OSBN investigation after suddenly fired after MAT leave
Please get a attorney that specializes in the BON. The board is not your friend and they really do not care about us. Please do NOT ever meet with anyone from the board without your attorney with you. Since your place of employment did not offer for you to drug test, go get a hair and urine now. The hair test goes back 3 months to prove you have not been taking anything.

Agreeing to Probationary terms as a new nurse ?
Caroline Strazis what state are you in? I believe the monitoring programs are different now. I also think that people with your opinions and attitudes hurt nurses in these situations, instead of helping. Sunflower, please contact a attorney who specializes with the board of nursing. It will cost some money but the monitoring program will cost you thousands of dollars. You have rights. Please protect your rights. Hold your head high and be proud of all of your accomplishments. Remember your experiences from the past will make you a better and more compassionate nurse, which we truely need now.

Refused UDS, what to do now?
I agree with your comment about if all nurses could stick together, we could make a change. Can you imagine how working conditions would be if the entire nursing profession stuck together. If we stood as one and didn't put up with the hospital politics. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening, which is sad.

Terminated for suspected diversion, PNAP now involved
I have also had to put my patients meds in my lab coat pocket during emergent situations. When you are running the halls with a cup full of medicines and you see a patient getting out of bed or getting ready to fall, you have to help them. Actually I have seen many nurses do this in crisis situations.

KBN investigation
I couldn't afford a attorney either. I actually put the retainer fee on my credit card and I am so glad I did. After my attorney did all communication with the board, everything was dropped. I also received most of my retainer fees back. These programs are very expensive. Anything the attorney does will be saving you money in the long run. Please remember the board is not your friend and they definitely are not on your side. The only person who will be on your side in this situation is your attorney. Also, do not talk to anyone except your attorney about this situation. This includes previous and current coworkers.

Terminated for suspected diversion, PNAP now involved
Your lawyer response to this situation is concerning. The lawyer you choose should be experienced with the board of nursing. This should be your attorneys specialty. Choose a attorney that has a history of dealing with healthcare professionals. If a attorney that you hired said for you to write a letter to the board, I recommend asking for your retainer fee back and find a different one immediately. If you hire a experienced attorney they will be the person writing your letter and dealing with all communication with the board. I am very sorry you are dealing with this. This is a extremely serious matter. Please do not talk to the board of nursing without a attorney. Also, do not talk to anyone especially previous coworkers about this situation.

What can a good lawyer do in these cases?
A drug test will prove that you haven't taken any drugs. I would get a hair and urine. If you are notified by the board, the drug tests will help to clear your name. This was the first thing my attorney told me to do. I did not have to talk to the board or any investigators, my attorney did all of this. Once the board knows you have a attorney they will contact them, at least in my situation. This is only my advice, please seek a attorney knowledgeable in dealing with the board. The board is NOT on your side and how they treat nurses is AWFUL. The only person who will have your back in this situation is your attorney. Please know you are not alone. This is a very scary situation to be in and this site offers great support and advice. I am very sorry you are going through this.

What can a good lawyer do in these cases?
Please do not talk to anyone, especially from the board of nursing without a attorney present. I have heard of the board taking longer then a year to notify nurses of complaints. My advice is to get a attorney now. They will deal with everything with the board. Also, get a hair test immediately. These go back 3 months. Please keep us updated.

Nurse lying to the BON about their past
Agree with above post. I would leave this alone. This is between him and the board. If he did lie they will find out eventually. Really this is none of your business or your coworkers.

Hospitals charging nurses $100/month for parking?
Luckily I have never worked at a facility that charged staff to park. With the amount of money the hospital system makes it is crazy that they would charge their own employees to park.
- Narcotic Discrepancy

Falsely Accused Of Patient Neglect
My advice is find another job immediately and don't look back. Noone should stay at a facility that would do this to them. You do not owe them anything especially since they have treated you this way.

Ohio Board Failed Drug Test
I agree with above post. Please do not talk to anyone about this, especially your current coworkers. You will need to get a attorney that has experience with the board. The attorney will recommend that you take drug tests, hair and urine. You will need to prove that you don't have a problem with THC. I would hate for you to end up in the monitoring program over this. Please keep us updated. I am sorry this is happening to you.

Uh oh, relapse
Congratulations on getting the help that you need. Please do not tell them you are a nurse. I believe in some states the hospital will call and report you if you tell them. I have heard of this happening to other nurses.

Diversion
Unfortunately I think this happens alot. Some employees start gossip and it spreads. Sorry this is happening to you. I was falsely accused also and once those accusations are out there it spreads like a wildfire. If you have found a new job stay there until you are notified from the board. Keep working and try to save as much money as you can. If there is a time where you can not work as a nurse I recommend try getting a job with a medical device company or medical supplies. They will appreciate your knowledge and they pay great. The benefits are better then when I was working as a nurse. Please know you are not alone. This site offers great support
