I'm sorry you're going through this. My first job I applied to was a Med Surg position at montefiore. I decided I'll work about 1-2 years to learn, gain experience as a new grad and to get my foot in the door. I work for 1 year and decided to resign (due to management) and applied to another hospital which took about 2 months for me to get hired. Keep going, try reaching out to past classmates, or applying to city hospitals.

I'm a new RN BSN graduate and I've been offered a job at Montefiore in the Bronx. After passing the dosage and medication exam, I accepted the offer, pay, unit, and night shift. I'm currently on the boarding process. Can any current or past RN employees of montefiore give me some information at orientation? I was told it's 4 months but, is it 5 days/40 hours a week? Is it during the day? Or does it vary? How was the experience overall? I'm a bit nervous yet excited ? Thanks!

I absolutely agree! I maxed out at 150 questions and got the good pop up after doing the PVT.

I was a student starting out during COVID so everything was online and I can admit skills validation wasn't resourceful during that time. Now, yes it is. If I needed extra help, I spoke to my professor and the Dean for one on one help to sharpen my validation skills after classes.

Thank you so much! Congratulations on your acceptance! As far as class and professors goes Registrar will pick the professors, classes and make your schedule. Yes, it's full time so classes will be daily in the morning ending in the late afternoon or evening which is a lot but doable if you have support. I was fortunate to be able to not have to work with no children and focus on school 100% but I had previous cohorts that worked, had kids, other responsibilities and still managed to study and pass. Which again is absolutely hard but it can be done. I strongly recommend to get ahead, when you have time look over the syllabus, start watching YouTube videos about the subject (my fave is simple nursing) or even read the textbook ahead to get an idea of the lecture. Do the ATIs, have supportive classmates that are serious and hard working, make time to study and relax because if you don't find time for yourself, you will get too stressed and overwhelmed which can impact your studies. I recently took the NGN NCLEX this morning. When I arrived home, I waited a few hours then did the PVT and received the good pop up... But.. My exam shut off at 150. So data is completely false.

Finally as of today, I passed the NGN NCLEX! My journey is finally complete!

You’re welcome. Congratulations on your acceptance. I will say, something’s have changed since being in the LPN program compared to now that I’m in the RN program. Some professors are no longer there and the school seems to be running a bit better. It’s not prefect it never will be, but I just advise to study study study, lean on your cohort for support to study, discuss class work, questions and everything else. Look at the syllabus everyday, be ready to read and teach yourself certain things, do the ATIs, take notes and study the PowerPoints after class. It’s going to be stressful but take time to breathe and manage your time. Make the best of it as much as you can. I wish you the best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

That’s very funny because with my cohort they didn’t allow us to change our schedule nor change groups.. they gave what they gave us and if anyone in my cohort couldn’t do it for whatever reason, it was our own problem. So this “leniency” wasn’t something I experienced but I’m happy they changed it. I already brought my RN NCLEX Sanders book and I will be studying with UWorld also during my RN semesters starting in the fall. I know what I went through with Monroe and I know what to expect. I wanted to apply to another nursing school but unfortunately I was over the deadline. @Jaz24 Hi, it is doable..but it’s a lot of work. Managing your time with work, classes, clinicals, studying and assignments is going to be very important. I did my pre reqs at a CUNY before applying so it did make it better for me not to take those classes with the nursing courses. Classes for the LPN, my experience were M, T, W. One morning class, and the rest were afternoon classes.

So it looks Monroe is finally starting to improve their teaching and you all were able to reap the benefits from it, excluding me and my cohort. Good for you ??

@mulaniani When It comes to Monroe especially with my experience, the school itself schedules your classes based on what classes you need to take, so the time and day is fixed on what they give you..not what you chose. I absolutely DO NOT believe you should teach yourself when it comes to basic knowledge that the students should learn as a nurse. Now, will any school teach you everything? No, but things like, EKG interpretations, ABGs, lab values, and other basic teachings should of been taught to me and my cohort but was not..after graduation and classes was done for the semester, I used UWorld and I was so shock of all the basic information I wasn’t taught and when I took my NCLEX I was so happy I did use UWorld to learn things that I didn’t..because I would of failed it and many of the student have. If you look at the stats posted.. the passing rate of NCLEX went down 2021.

We’re in the same cohort and I agree you 100%. I would not recommend Monroe to anyone I know.

Hello First, I want to congratulate you on your acceptance. Secondly, I’m going to be completely honest with you. If I knew what I knew now and had more information on Monroe college nursing program before applying, I would of NEVER applied. Since being accepted in the fall 2020 semester program, the school was unacceptably unorganized and still is one year later. It is very overwhelming dealing with this school. A lot of important information that I should of learned as a nursing student wasn’t taught and studying for my NCLEX I used outside resources which helped me much more. It’s a long list of why I wouldn’t recommend the school to my friends or family. But I will say, this was my own experience dealing with this and your experience maybe different than mine once you start and I hope that’s the case. So please don’t be discouraged. I strongly advise seeking help from your fellow classmates, stick together, help one another, write everything down or have the class recorded so you can go back to it, always find time to study and prioritize your time when it comes to doing the assignments. As time processes you’ll start to find what works for you when it comes to your learning style. It’s a long and difficult process but it’s doable. Always keep your eyes on the prize.✨ I wish you and all the students the best of luck.

Unfortunately, @Nelly Lozano is right. Before starting the nursing program at Monroe they waited for us to start class to give us information about the textbooks. And for me, that sucked because I rather have the book rather having it online so I purchased the book anyway.

Hello everyone, sorry for the late response, being in nursing school has been taking up majority of my time so once again my apologies for the late response. @Akhila Jaimon I completely understand you and as well as others being anxious about the interview questions. I had my interview for the current fall 2020, the questions they asked me “what do you think Monroe can do for your future?”, “why do want to be a nurse?”, “what are the most important things you do as a nurse?”. They might different questions but I promise you it will be general questions about “why you want to become a nurse?” If you need to, practice in the mirror (which I did) or write down your answers a few days before hand...but Just remember to take your time and be yourself...
