  1. It all depends on what type of adolescent unit you're going to work on, is it open or closed (locked or unlocked). Is it a private hospital or a city or a state unit. I was in nursing school when I started as Mental health tech in a privately run psychiatric hospital, the only real psychiatric experience I had was what I had seen on TV, which was really zero. In the interview, just let them know that the experience is new for you, I was hired because I was a male, and males are always needed especially with adolescents. Remember take your time and try to absorb what's being taught, it could come in handy later.
  2. Well shouldn't they value your career as well, the establishment should have a policy and procedure manual stating what the rules are regarding this. I would contact your state NP organization about it and talk it over with them. It sounds like they could care less about NP providers.
  3. Also, remember the liability issue, you're always seen as your highest license credential in legal cases.
  4. I would have a contract lawyer examine this contract before you agree to anything, it sounds like there imposing a bit of restraint of trade on limiting your moonlighting. Why should they have the power over you when you're on your own time, maybe if they limited it to a specific geographic region. Have someone who does employment contract law examine this 1st.
