  1. I’m in the interview process for a residency program and they are requesting 5 references and having them fill out some kind of survey about my qualifications. 2 of them should preferably be my past managers. My problem is, I’ve only worked part time jobs where my managers don’t even know my name and I don’t have contact with them because they don’t work there anymore. Only 2 clinical instructors responded to my request. I want to ask my professors but most of them don’t know me that well because most our lectures have been on zoom. I’m not the most memorable student and I’m very average. Is it still worth asking them? I’m feeling major regrets for not building relationships with my instructors ?
  2. @Kmattessich That's awesome! How was the interview process at Northwestern for you? I have a phone interview with HR next week and im so nervous!
  3. I landed an interview with HR next week for the OR Nurse Residency at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago (yay!). I am graduating with my BSN in May. Has anyone gone through the interview process for the OR residency at Northwestern as a new grad? Or for any new grad position there? I am nervous as heck and would be so appreciative of any advice on what to expect!
  4. What can you contribute to the UIC community? If you weren't going into nursing, what two careers would you pursue? How will you manage your social and academic life in nursing school? Explain a situation where you helped someone during a difficult time. If I remembered correctly, these were the questions asked for my group! I interviewed in person so im not sure how zoom interviews would go. There were 6 (?) people in each group so be sure to be respectful and not take too long to answer. Generally, after a question is asked, you don't want to be the first person responding each time but try to be the first to answer for one question. The interviewers do not look at your application or resume beforehand so this is the time to make a good impression and talk about your experiences. Make sure to come up with questions to ask the interviewers at the end. They really try to make it as chill as possible so just be yourself!! Good luck ?
  5. I was waitlisted then eventually accepted a month later. My overall GPA ended up being a 3.7 but my science GPA was below a 3.0. I volunteered at a hospital for one Summer in Chicago and only half a semester in Urbana bc of covid. I was also a general member in a couple of clubs. I remember thinking I was super under qualified, but I think I just got lucky. I know someone who got an acceptance the week before class started to don't lose hope too soon. This is for Urbana btw and Chicago will be significantly harder to get into. I did not have a 2nd or 3rd choice since I wanted to stay at UIUC.
  6. ? Just curious.. Did anyone else hear back from the waitlist? I got admitted from the waitlist last Friday via email to the Urbana campus and I was wondering if anyone else got off the waitlist too. Also, if anyone did get off the waitlist, has your application status changed yet? Bc mine doesn't have any updates at all, not even "decision made"
