  1. Hey everyone! I am a newer RN but I eventually I want to pursue my NP. I have a passion for primary care and the capacity in which I desire to help others is really only possible as an NP. I want to apply this upcoming cycle. It would be be difficult to be accepted, but getting the experience from applying, I think would be valuable. I am trying to find how much practice experience I need to apply. On one UBC web page it says 2 years if full-time experience, and another UBC page says 3 years. But none give a number of hours. So, does anyone know what the hours threshold is to apply? I think number of hours is the easiest way to define this requirement. Thank you ?
  2. Yes- workplaces are much more concerned with whether or not you passed your NCLEX rather than what school you went to. Unless you have some huge hesitation with accepting Western, I would take it! Besides, even if you take stats, no guarantee Mac accepts you next year. What are your concerns with Western vs Mac? Or Western in general?? Western is a 19-month compressed program and you have clinical placement in your 3rd, 4th and 5th semesters. I know a lot of Western programs use case-based approach to learning. Nursing doesn't explicitly say they use this but its a big thing for many Western programs so I wouldn't be surprised if it crept its way in. London also has a lot of world class teaching hospitals you'll be completing clinical placements at. The nursing website does a great job of breaking down the program further and if you have any specific questions I would encourage you to email them!! They've been super approachable from my experience!
  3. For sure!! Honestly it’s more for personal reasons than anything academic. Western is a lot closer to home for me and that’s super important at this point in my life. Plus I’m a UofT alumni and as much as I loved my experience there, I’m excited to go to a different school and new experiences! Academically speaking they are both great schools with great teaching hospitals. And you get a BScN in about two years time wherever you choose!
  4. I was also accepted yesterday. I had an 84.3% or 3.7/4.0 on the UofT GPA scale and had a lot of diverse work experiences/extra curriculars. In terms of personal statement, I used mine from last year (I was waitlisted last year at UofT) as my base and changed a few things around on it. I did take a course this past semester so my admissions average went up a bit but not by much. Honestly, not too much changed between my applications this year and last year. Maybe it made a difference there is a different person doing the admissions this year?! Different set of eyes looking at things can make a big impact! I will most likely decline my UofT offer for Western though so hopefully that helps someone out here!!
  5. I also just got an offer from Western!
  6. I don't think so! They typically send offers until the end of June. You know they are done sending offers when they finally send our waitlists/rejections as well
  7. Hey!! I know someone reached out about a month ago and they said all decisions would be made by the end of this month, May (regardless of if you sent final transcripts early or not). I also had to reach out regarding a issue with my transcripts and they confirmed this as well. Not the most ideal to be kept waiting but hopefully it gives you some peace of mind! Good luck!!
  8. Just checked mine as I am also completing a prereq, nothing changed for me. Still just says "applied"
  9. I wrote mine on Jan 13th. I am still completing one prerequisite though. Hopefully they start sending more soon!
  10. Has anyone heard from Western lately?? It seems they sent a few offers near the beginning of March but nothing since then. Just curious!!
  11. Has anyone heard from Western lately? I know a few offers were sent out at toward the beginning of March but it seems like there has been nothing since. Just curious!!
  12. Hey- I actually did have to email them recently and got a response the very next day! Did you use the connect.nursing email? That's where I sent my question!
  13. Nothing as far as I know! I guess we will wait and see!
  14. They didn’t specify. However in the email it says we need to be collecting all the documents needed in order to submit them when we are admitted. Personally I am just going to get it done ASAP!
  15. Hi everyone— UofT just sent info on the preparedness permit!
  16. Haha so true! I was waitlisted last year but top ten. I gave up my spot for various reasons. I am currently hoping it wasn't a bad decision but you are right- it's all part of the journey to a bscn!
  17. Congratulations on being accepted! I really do think you'll be OK and I am hopeful as well! On another note- did any waitlist students join the UofT FB group? I am considering joining to ensure I complete my preparedness permit correctly however I'm not sure if they'll let waitlisted students join quite yet.
  18. May I ask when you were accepted?? It’s difficult for sure but so many people at the top of the waitlist end up getting accepted every year so I have confidence it will all work out for you this year!!
  19. I’m not sure exactly how many people are on the waitlist but in a few days they should let us know what waitlist group we are in (I.e. top ten, group 2 or group 3). Hopefully that gives us some idea of where we stand!
  20. Speaking from experience (waitlisted last year and then offered a spot), they will email you and give you a chance to respond. I emailed back the same day so I'm not sure how much time they give you to respond but just keep an eye out on your email!
  21. Yes! I was waitlisted as well and sent an email around 5:30pm
  22. The 30th is! Traditionally they haven't made everyone wait that long (last year I was waitlisted on the 26th) however it seems we may have to this year.
  23. Honestly I think it’s hard to predict since this application cycle has been so different from previous years. I would say yes only because so few acceptances seemed to go out during May and the beginning of June but that’s just me speculating. If it helps, last year I was waitlisted and was sent an email on June 26th. So hopefully the wait isn’t too much longer regardless of what the decision is!!
  24. Hello! I hope I can shed some light on this from my own experience. Last year I was on the UofT waitlist. I did eventually get offered a spot but had to decline for personal reasons. In terms of when they send everything out, I found out last year (and I’m pretty sure even those rejected did) a few days before the end of June that I was waitlisted. By June 30th however they have to send you either an acceptance, a waitlist offer or a rejection. If they offered you a place on the waitlist and you accept it, they send a follow up email 1-2 weeks later letting you know what waitlist group you are in. This way you have an idea of where you are on the list and how likely it is you will be admitted. Last year it was “Top 10,” “Group 2,” and “Group 3.” I was in the “top 10” group and I believe last year they were able to offer a place to everyone in that group and a few from “group 2.” They will also have you start the on boarding process for clinicals if you are on the waitlist (I.e. vaccination records, police check, mask fit test, etc.). Since you could be admitted up until the program starts in September they need to make sure you all your documents are ready to go. I hope this helps!!
