  1. Hello, I have been a nurse for 9 years, 4 of those years in hospital Utilization Review and CM. I also have a BSN. I have been applying to remote jobs for 4 months, around 85 jobs. I don't hear back from many or if I do they email me saying they have not selected me. Please give me some advice ?!
  2. Hello! I am currently a case manager working on my BSN. I am interested in pursuing an MBA. what kind of jobs can I get with that degree? Thanks
  3. I have been an RN working bedside for 5 years and now I have a new job working as a case manager. I love my new job, I realized I love using my nursing knowledge without the hands on work. I want to go back to school ASAP. My goal is to stay away from the bedside. I'm wondering if I should get my BSN or go for the MSN. I have also considered an MBA, because I want to stay away from bedside. Is it better to just get a BSN first, and then later go for an MBA or MSN when I am sure? Or is it more cost/time effective to go straight for the masters. I also don't want to waste my money if I don't want to be in upper management right now. I don't want to be a manager but I wonder if one day I would want to be. I also would like to know good schools to go to, 100% online. Any advice is appreciated!
  4. @The0Walrus haha I will try to avoid retail, gotta make the money to pay back loans. Maybe I will look into psych. Thanks !
  5. Hello, I have 6 years of bedside experience and would love to be a case manager. I get rejected from jobs because I don't have my BSN. Any advice for me for how to break into the speciality while I acquire my BSN?
  6. @The0Walrus that's great, thanks so much. I will probably go back and get it asap then. That must be why I keep getting rejected from the non bedside positions. I just need to figure out where to work in the meantime. I am beyond burned out on bedside. I consider Working at a store or Starbucks LOL. @The0Walrus I just saw the link you sent. Thanks so much!
  7. @The0Walrus Thanks for the feedback! Do you think if I get my BSN I can get jobs that are not hands on? I love critical thinking and all the educational aspects of nursing, just not hands on and on the floor ( I know I'm in the wrong profession) but If the BSN would help me out of it I would get it in a heartbeat . Also, any advice on what job I could do while in school?
  8. Hello, I have been a nurse 6 years, med surg tele for 5 and home care for 1. I have realized that hands on and bedside nursing is just not what I want to do anymore. I applied to tons of case management and desk type jobs and I constantly get rejected. I am tight on money so I am about to work at a clinic to pay my bills but I just DO NOT want to go back to hands on care. I don't know what to do. My friends and family tell me to go back for my BSN and maybe I can get the types of jobs I want. I just don't want to spend all that time and money to end up in the same boat. I wish I could not be a nurse anymore but I don't know what else to do with my life. Please help !
  9. Hello, I know the basics of InterQual. I am about to have a case management interview and they are asking if I have InterQual experience. I know what InterQual guidelines are... but I'm not sure what they mean by experience. Is it some type of charting system? Please let me know. Thanks!
  10. Hello, I need some advice. I have been a bedside nurse for 5 years. I am burned out and looking for non bedside jobs. What bothers me the most is that when I first became a nurse, I enjoyed using my clinical skills. Wound care, catheters, IV starts. Over the past few years, I have reached burnout and I do not want to touch bodily fluids anymore. I'm so tired of cleaning up poop and wounds. I have just changed so much. I'm tired of worrying about exposures. I'm sad because it makes me realize maybe I need to try a different career path? I love everything else about nursing and healthcare.. just not heavy lifting and hands on care. I have an ADN. Please help ?
  11. @Elaine Mthanks! How do I move the post?
  12. Hello, I was a travel nurse for a long time and I loved it but got burnt out on hospital nursing. I wanted to become a case manager, get a year of experience and then go back to traveling, NYC first. Well, I became a home health/hospice case manager and I worked for 10 months and then left because my back and body was hurting from all the lifting. I'm unsure what to do next. I'm thinking I should get a hospital/nursing facility/ insurance cm job, work there for a year and then travel again. Are there many opportunities to travel as this type of RN CM? I'm also very depressed that I have to wait an additional year to travel and I already was almost at the year mark. I just cant handle bedside anymore. This is making me very depressed. I have 6 months left on my apartment lease currently. Should I just get another job for 6 months and once my lease is up just apply for permanent jobs in NYC? give up my passion for travel nursing? Advice please?
  13. Hello, I finally made the decision to leave bedside nursing. I would like my new job to have as little hands on care as possible. I was a medical surgical telemetry RN for 4 years and a hospice case manager for 1 year. I am interested in insurance, nursing facility, and hospital case management. I am interested in research nursing. I am interested in care coordinator positions, and also clinic setting. I'm not sure how much hands on care is involved in clinic nursing? I would like to further my education from ASN to BSN and possibly MSN or become an NP. I am wondering which route to take. I have already had job interviews for 1 of each of the jobs I am interested in. Not sure which one to take if the job is offered. Which job can I continue to grow and use my skills, with very little/no hands on patient care? I love interacting with patients more that sitting at a desk or cubicle. I also wonder how I can stay in a job and advance as I continue my education. I also love travel nursing, I have done it before. I would like a specialty that I could possibly work as a travel nurse. I'm very excited for this next step in my career! Thanks a lot for any responses ?
