  1. It's alright. You can e-mail me any time.
  2. I wanna start by congratulating you. You have made it and you should be proud of yourself and I want you to know that we are all proud of you. Now going back to your question , I think the Nursing advisor should provide you with all the information that you need before the beginning of fall semester. I`ll suggest that you start working on your physical form as soon as you can. Once you have all the results, you can submit them on Castle Branch and I hope you`ll get the form as soon as possible. The fee for using their service is roughly $ 200. The primary book will cost you somewhere around $547 and the second one I think is $ 200 something( not very sure about the exact price). As for the uniform the website is www.flynnohara.com/school/NY005 . Although I have not yet finished purchasing all the requirement, I know the cost for attending first semester of nursing will be over $ 1000 in terms of supplies. Good luck fellow student, I just hope this information will help you a little bit.
  3. Thank you!!
  4. Yes don't give up. I'm in section 091
  5. Hi, Although I don't really have a specific job recommendation, I want you to know that you're not the only one struggling to gather all items that are required prior to the beginning of the program. If someone like me,who does not have any child can struggle like this , how about a single mum? I can only imagine what you're going through. I just hope that regardless all the challenges, you don't end up not attending the program. If I come across anything, I won't hesitate to let you know but in the mean time, take care and wishing you all the best.
  6. I totally agree with your statement. And thank you for reminding us that most of the time we gonna be on our own but that should encourage us to remain more engaged over the course of our program. It's all gonna be alright!!
  7. I also wanted to review that package over the Weekend so that I can be prepared for the orientation but as usual, there is no consistancy in terms of communication when it comes to the Nursing program. We have to push all the time in order to receive any information. I hope it's not gonna be like this once we start the program. Otherwise, we gonna be screwed up guys. And I doubt if our scheduled orientation is gonna even takes place on the 15th cos we still waiting for the Zoom invitation e-mail.
  8. Hi , I e-mailed her my acceptance letter the very day that she sent out the e-mails. She did respond by saying thank you. I guess she was still on her desk . That's why she responded so quick. But as far the second package is concerned, I haven't received it either.
  9. Yes I saw that too. But I have just e-mailed her a signed copy of my acceptance letter. It feels good to be accepted in the program. I have been waiting for so long to get here.
  10. But honestly you guys in the evening program are some how lucky to have such a professor. For us in the day program, it's a 50/50 chance. There is one professor called -------------------, she has like 1.0 on rate my professor. I've been in touch with one student who took her in Spring. She said that this woman does not teach at all. You have to work extra hard to pass. So right now, I'm preparing already because I don't know which professor I'll end up with. The majority of students on rate my professor kind of likes ------------------------. So only God knows. But let's not get discouraged. Regardless the professor will get , we need to stay positive and work hard.
  11. I haven't received the e-mail either. But I think we need to chill out a little bit. Even if we receive the e-mail today , we not gonna start our program tomorrow. I know people are making efforts to reach out to the advisor, but in reality we still have a little bit of time. I personally always avoid to email the advisor cos I don't want her to frustrate my efforts. I'm glad that people are getting a good feedback from her. Maybe it's because she knows that we're already in the program ?
  12. Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm definitely willing to stay connected to my classmates via a different platform because I know the benefits of networking in the Nursing program. I'm looking forward to do so in the nearest future.
  13. Hello everyone, I wanna start by congratulating every student who has been accepted. I'm very happy to see that few students have already started to find different means that we can stay in touch in this journey that we're about to start. I saw two posters about students who have already created a facebook page for day as well evening programs, however I just wanna be honest with you guys. I deactivated my facebook page and all my social media accounts 2 years ago. I took that decision because social media became like a distraction for me. I would at the minimum spent 3 hours a day on social media back in the days. So I came up with a resolution to stay away from social media until I graduate. I don't regret the decision that I made because it helped me focusing on the most important thing in my life rather than spending my time checking who posted what and what to comment on. The decision that I made helped me to secure a spot in the nursing program this year and I'm very excited about it. Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against facebook but for me I made a resolution to reactivate my facebook page once I graduate. Having say that, I want you all to know that I'm more than willing to stay in touch with you and share any knowledge with you folks but not really via facebook. I saw someone who posted a cellphone # where we can reach her/him. So I'll definitely get in touch for any update. If there is also any information that I would want to share, I won't hesitate to do so through her/him. Once Again my fear is that by joining your facebook page, I may end up looking at some other posters on facebook that might become a distraction for me. All the best my fellow students.
  14. I meant day program. Sorry for that typing error. I'm super excited right now and I can't even think.
  15. Now I can breath. I have just made it. Got accepted for Fall day Nursing day program. When I receive the e-mail yesterday about the Zoom meeting, I was so nervous. Today I was even scared to join the meeting but thank God I made it. Today is gonna be one of the best day for me. Grandulation to those who got accepted and good luck as we're about to face another battle.
  16. I wonder which website exactly. Because on the website when you go to nursing program icon and then admission, this is what it says: Application Deadline The last day to apply for Nursing Program Fall admission and register for the HESI A2 Nursing Admission Test (given end of May) is May 1. Please see BMCC Nursing Admission COVID-19 Changes . The last day to apply for Nursing Program Spring admission and register for the HESI A2 Nursing Admission Test (given beginning of December) is November 15. This is not coming from me but from the Bmcc official website.
  17. Hi, In my opinion, I think it's too late to apply for fall of 2020. The deadline for the fall application was May 1st. So at this time ,Spring of 2021will be the best choice for you. But every rule has an exception. Maybe you should try to reach out to the nursing department with this question. As far as I know , none of us on this platform has really the final answer. The nursing department may make an exception for you. I hope this help. Good luck !
  18. Hi, I think if Bmcc does not work for you, the best option will be private schools. I wouldn't really recommend any other cuny school because they are all public schools with pretty much the same policies. Personally I think most people choose cuny not because its nursing program is the only best program in town but rather for its affordable tuition fee. Many of us wouldn't attend Cuny if it weren't for its affordable tuition fee. Now having say that , I have few private schools in mind . I know them because few people that I know who couldn't get into Cuny nursing program ended up attending these schools and some of them are even working at the best hospitals in town. So these private schools are : College of Mount saint Vincent. At this college they accept HESI or TEAS exam taking outside their school curriculum. Second school is Mercy College and last but not the least is saint Francis College. But these are not the only private schools in town, there are lot of schools out there. I'm just giving you a few that people I know went to. I also want you to remember that these are all private schools , so their tuition fees are higher than Cuny but it's worth trying if Nursing is really a call for you. I'm also trying everything that I can to get into Cuny nursing program but if it doesn't work, I'll end up in one of these schools. I don't know anyone who end up dying because she/he took a loan. The goal is to finish the program, get to work and start repaying you loan. Wishing you all the best.
  19. Thank you and have a wonderful day too
  20. Hi Nursewannabe, First, I wanna congratulate you for coming this far. In my humble opinion, I think 3.59 is still a good GPA. There is this idea that only people with 4.00 or 3.9 GPA get into the program. So if everyone has 4.00, 3.9 or 3.8, so then all these students are Genius and the nursing department should at least accept more than 200 students per semester. I think there is a bit of exaggeration when it comes to GPA. I have a friend who is currently in the program. She got accepted with a 3.5 GPA. But I also know someone who did not get into the program with a 3.8 GPA. I don`t want you to look down on your GPA simply because everyone is claiming to have 4.00 GPA. I know the Nursing program can be very competitive but beyond that competitiveness, there are people who still get in with sometimes a lower GPA than yours. But having say that, if you think there will be a possibility for you to get a better grade in English, then go for it. But don`t retake the class and end up with a lower grade than what you actually have. I`m not also sure if your English was transferred from another school or you did it at BMCC. Anyway, this is just my opinion and just remember that my opinion is not a universal truth. You have a final word. I just wanna conclude by wishing you nothing but the best.
  21. Have a wonderful day too.
  22. Hi, I feel like I'm in the same position as you. It looks like you have taken most of your pre-clinical classes. My humble advice is that, don't take any class that is irrelevant for the sake of full time status. I'm in the same position too. But right now, I've already registered for a Nutrition class just in case I don't get accepted into the nursing program this coming fall. I'll rather take only one class rather than take a bunch of classes that I'll be irrelevant in the nearest future. I have taken all science classes from A & P to Microbiology. Chem, Statistics, Eng.......to name a few. So right now I don't really have any class left that will be relevant for a BS program. Maybe language because I saw that at Lehman college program. Other than that, most pre-clinical classes are the same. I also agree with those who said that it's gonna be a good idea to check each college requirements before you enroll in any class. Good luck with everything and I hope you'll get a chance to do your clinical at Bmcc.
  23. You're most welcome. And wishing you all the best.
  24. Hi, From what I know, only the GPA from your prerequisite classes is taken into account as far as your acceptance into the nursing program is concerned. There is no such a thing like which credited weight the most ? Prerequisite classes are as follow : English 101, Psych 100, Math 104, Bio 425, Chem 121. So these are the five prerequisite classes. Of course CHEM 121 and BIO 425 are 4 credits classes. But it`s your entire GPA of the five prerequisite classes that is going to count. And if you want to know the GPA of your prerequisite classes , search for College GPA calculator on Google and the page is going to show you a sample where you can enter your grade and the page will automatically calculate your GPA right away. As for the number of spots, that`s only the nursing program that may have the correct number but from what I have read before, the nursing department admits roughly 81 students every semester and this number include both day and evening programs. Thanks
  25. Hi all, But if you have already taken your five prerequisites which include Chem 121 , then you`re eligible to apply for fall unless you`re planning to apply for the evening section which requires Bio 420 as well 426.
