  1. I did these assignments for about 6 months on my off weeks from the hospital. It was fine. I did have all the licensing from my primary job though but like you said I didn't prescribe or change treatment. Occasionally I'd find something screwed up and tell them to call their PCP. I'd schedule about 8 visits a day for 3 days on my off week. The company I used was pretty flexible and my contact person was helpful. If I went far they'd give me a rental car and hotel. $40 per diem daily. I could get through the assessments really quick after awhile. Knew the questions by heart. No thinking whatsoever so it will make you money but be absolutely no help to you in the future and as a new NP I'd be concerned about that. Maybe the experience will help you get a job though. Something you should know, I went into some shady places. Hoarder homes, massive fires hazards, and once I was bitten by a cat. Didn't even see it the thing just jumped out of a junk pile in the middle of the living room. I'm male and was hesitant about a few neighborhoods. I would be really concerned about my wife doing that job. I did see some really beautiful homes also. Now I just pick up OT at the hospital because although it's very busy it's at least safe.
  2. Thanks!
  3. It didn't matter for my first job I was well connected at the hospital from years of employment and had a good relationship with the physicians. But I do have a degree from a reputable school and I was asked about that in future interviews and felt it played an important role in the job offers I received. The doctors I work with though have no clue about the state of NP education and unless it's a school with a reputable medical school they likely wouldn't know. If I'm ever part of a hiring team for NP's the school they attended would be fairly important to me.
  4. Hey all, I'm up to renew my AGACNP license in the next year with the ANCC. We've had uptodate the last few years and I do use it a lot. They allow you to redeem CE's. My hospital system is dropping the subscription so I have to redeem them. I've Google searched it and I see some physicians using them does anyone have any experience using it for uptodate credits for NP license renewal? Thanks.
  5. Hello all, I’m an AG-ACNP that works Adult I'm. I have a middle school daughter that has had a lot of medical complaints over the last few years. She is on the smaller side and quits sports regularly. Frequently she develops musculoskeletal injuries. She’ll wear a brace for a week or two and be fine. We’ve had her in for multiple X-rays in the past and everything’s always fine. We took her to the eye doctor because she thought she needed glasses but that was also fine. Anyway, I’ve become hesitant to take her in for her complaints at this point. Last week she hurt her knee in gym class during a collision with a boy. That was almost 7 days ago now. She went on a trip with my spouse over the weekend and wore a brace but did a lot of walking. She’s still complaining of pain and won’t participate in gym class. The teacher told her she had to have a note by next week. Although I’ve seen her run around at home and carry her 50lb sister. My question is on the ethical side of things. I was planning on taking her in after a few weeks of rest and ibuprofen if it didn’t work. I’ve been pretty adamant about not treating family or our children in the past but would any of you write a school note for your child? Or am I being biased and I should take her to pediatrician? I’m going to call the gym teacher tomorrow and get the whole story. Trying to gather my thoughts on it and figured I’d reach out to the forums. Again, my specialty is AGACNP and she’s technically just on the border of population I’m allowed to care for. Thanks in advance.
