  1. I did all of my science prerequisites online through Portage Learning. Before COVID the admissions counselors were strongly advising against online and they even told me I'd need to get written approval to do so for labs. I actually started my A&P class in person in Spring 2020 and we all know how that turned out. To be honest, I much preferred online, especially because Portage was asynchronous. Since I was working full-time and teaching at night it made my life so much easier. Plus, I really think the structure of the classes helped so much in my preparation for the TEAS exam. I feel like the format of asynchronous learning meant that all of the information was really clearly outlined and I had to just learn it. Whereas in my in-person class, there was the variability of the instructor. Sometimes students would ask questions that, even though they were interesting, would get us super off topic and we always ran out of time to cover all the material. It also felt like the instructor would teach to their exams vs. the curriculum. IDK I'm sure that's not the case everywhere but that was my experience and I think if you really want to learn the material, asynchronous learning can work.
  2. I just want to say I'm so sorry to all of you san mateo folks who are still waiting! I can't believe it. There is still so much to do to even prepare for school that it feels unfair to make you wait so long. Sending you good vibes! anyone from Sacramento not on facebook? I'm one of those annoying people LOL. just wondering if there are any other groups to join.
  3. hi everyone, I just wanted to share that when I had trouble with my April 1st application I contacted NursingCAS and they were really fast at responding and were able to help me. You might want to try that! For @lovinghealth I also took the TEAS twice and I submitted them both in the scores reports section. I believe I submitted the second report as just another document. Good luck!
  4. congrats to the Sacramento folks who got in! I'm so sorry for those of you in San Mateo, that email would drive me crazy. I really hope you hear soon.
  5. wow congrats @Trustthestruggle you really worked hard! super impressive, and I'm happy for you.
  6. congrats @Denise32 and thanks everyone! I'm still in shock tbh and I might be for a while. I mentioned before that I'm older and this is a really big career change for me so I'm very nervous about it, but also excited! For what it's worth, I do think that my age and professional experience, as well as the career change aspect, may have played a role. I know the ABSN program is well designed for people who are going back to undergrad because they don't have a science background. So I'm happy to share my stats but I do think that my background may have played a role too. My science GPA was 4.0, but I had classes in progress when I applied. One of them I finished but I'm still working on Patho and Pharmacology. I scored 88.9 on the TEAS. I've worked in the healthcare setting as a doula, both paid and volunteer, and I've worked as a health educator at various hospitals. My LORs were from a DNP who is also a nursing professor, my supervisor at a hospital, and someone who has taught with me in a private setting. I truly wish the best to everyone, whether you are in this round or the next!
  7. Hi everyone, I just checked my portal and it says I got in to the Sacramento campus. I'm kind of in shock, I don't know if I'll believe it until I get an email. I'm so sorry to those who have been waiting so long, I know the wait is excruciating. I really hope you reapply. Good luck to everyone!!
  8. Yea I was thinking that after we received that email that we probably wouldn't hear until early July. It would really be great to find out ASAP, I'm stressing over how much I need to do this weekend to finish my July 1st application.
  9. I applied to Sacramento and I haven't received anything in the portal other than "your application is being reviewed." I'm just so curious why certain people are being updated in the portal but haven't received the official email yet.
  10. has anyone actually received the official email yet? It seems weird that they would be updating the portal so slowly. I cant image what it's like to be an admissions counselor but man this is rough. hang in there everyone!
  11. Exactly. I think that's the part that is frustrating me the most. People don't get enough time to actively be improving their applications for the next due date. I think they should update application materials to be clear to applicants that after submitting an application they should be working on improving their application in case they need to apply again. I'm sorry - I hope you get in!
  12. oh my goodness this is making me so nervous! I applied to Sacramento only and it still says my application is being reviewed. I'm so sorry to those who didn't get in, especially since you've had to wait so long. I hope you reapply!
  13. I applied to Sacramento, which is the only campus I can reasonably attend since I'm older with a family and I don't want to move my family or give up my childcare situation. The admissions counselor told me they had 160 applicants for 48 spots in Sacramento. Keep in mind this was when she also told me we'd have a decision by mid June. I agree with @AfutureCNM. I wish they would have pushed back the July 1st deadline, or offered more info about refunding our application if we do end up getting in. It's just become very confusing and I feel like puts us at such a disadvantage to compete with other applicants for the July 1st deadline. I'm especially frustrated because I'm only applying to Sacramento (which I realize is on me!) but if I don't get in this round or for the July 1st round I have to wait until the next Fall 2022 cohort. Also, the numbers that the admissions counselor gave me (160 apps for 48 slots) are not all that different than what she estimated for me a few months ago. Before the April 1st deadline she told me that they usually get around 150 applications so I can't speak to any other campuses but it doesn't seem like it's all that different. IDK.
  14. this is good to know, thanks! I don't know if I'll have time to take the HESI but it's a good option. I just can't believe we haven't heard yet ?
  15. I feel exactly the same. When I spoke to admissions a few weeks ago they mentioned that we'd have the decision by mid-June. I was thinking if I didn't get in I might take the TEAS again or something. I feel like I don't have enough time to change anything in my application between now and July 1st. If you don't mind me asking, how would you get in more hours between now and the application deadline?
