HRSA 2021-2022
Hi! Has anyone on this forum received a credit check in June and heard nothing at all from HRSA or Nurse Corps? I hear a credit check is a good sign but I haven't seen any movement in 2 months. Also, how confident are we that the second wave of applicants will be notified they received the award this week?

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Entry 2021
In the past I’ve seen a few students get a full scholarship (Based on incoming GPA and other metrics). Usually 2-3 students are awarded the full scholarship according to financial aid packets they sent us via email. Most students will get $1,000-$10,000 scholarships (Directly from the SON) that are renewable for two years if you keep certain grades and rely on loans for the rest unfortunately. PMHNP at Vanderbilt costs about $75,000/year so it’s definitely an investment!

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Entry 2021
Dear current Vandy students filtering the chat, what was the format for lecture, lab, and clinicals for the fall of 2020 and Spring 2021? Online, in-person required, either as an opt-in, etc? What is the expected format for next fall or if we’re not sure yet, what date will we know more? I am trying to figure out if it is necessary to move to Nashville during the prespecialty year and how students this year handled it with the pandemic.

UPENN BSN MSN 2020
Hi! I was accepted to the Penn program and I attended a similarly ranked large institution to yours, had the same major, and did a lot of the same extracurriculars besides sports. I was accepted to Penn with a 3.8 GPA and 3.7 in my nursing prereqs. I had at least 6 people review my statements and I really poured my goals and heart out in the essays so I would totally suggest having everyone who would be willing to revise your essays do that (including students that were accepted into the program previously). I wouldn’t worry to much about comparing yourself to others— really focus on acing as many prereqs as you can and getting amazing letters of recommendation. I ultimately decided to attend a different school for my NP program because Penn’s program is extremely expensive, even with a half scholarship. Apply to cheaper schools too and look into the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program as well.

Congratulations! So excited for you I know you have been waiting for so long! Did everyone see Tracy’s most recent email? Do you really think they’ll postpone Summer classes?

Vanderbilt 2020 Pre Specialty
Hi all! Does anyone (especially current students) have a list of scholarships that alternate entry students can apply for? I’ve submitted applications to all of the scholarship suggestions in the VUSN Financial Aid email. Love this program but I’m concerned about the loan debt. It looks like the HRSA scholarship has not been released yet.

Wow that’s a large amount! Did you find out about scholarships via email?

That’s understandable. What did your financial aid look like if you don’t mind asking? Any scholarships? I’m waiting on mine to be processed..

Radio silence. In the meantime, are you planning on doing the BLS/CPR courses while you wait? Or are you waiting until after you are accepted? ?
