  1. Hello! In my experience, they don't actually super care about getting all the paperwork in within two weeks. I called them about that myself and they kinda admitted that that deadline's only meant to put a fire under your butt to get it done. It shouldn't be the reason that you accept or don't. That being said, if you accept, give them a call and explain your situation, and I'm sure you'll get the same response I did.
  2. That tracks with my experience. I submitted my application in late September, and received an email that the application was forwarded to the program in late November. I had an interview in December, and an offer two weeks later, which I accepted.
  3. I have certainly been able to lock up my bike while heading in for interviews and such, but I do not know if there is indoor parking for bikes anywhere. I am likely relying on bike transport for my full time there, so I am hoping so.
  4. Soon! Still working through a bunch of pre-matric stuff, but soon! Though I don’t use Facebook very often, it might be one of the best places to get everyone together. Any objections?
  5. I heard back two weeks after my interview date.
  6. This is really disheartening. I hope that you can get this all cleared up! I think its normal as well. In previous cohorts, people who had to turn in their grades did not interview until the middle or end of January.
  7. I was just accepted myself! I want to get a group started for next year’s class, but it’s my first day back at work after the holidays and there’s a lot of pre-matriculation stuff to take care of! I’ll talk to you all soon!
  8. I submitted mine via the "Document Upload" section of the application form and then sent an email to the Admissions Office to confirm that they received it. They got back to me relatively quickly, but there appeared to be some sort of trouble accessing the document I submitted, so we had some correspondence about that.
  9. Likewise, congrats and thank you for sharing! I submitted my fall grades yesterday, and had some correspondence with the Admissions office about it (they were apparently having issues seeing the document I submitted). When did you interview, if you don't mind me asking?
  10. They had said the same thing for my interview group (12/12/19, 10am), but said that we could reasonably expect a response before the end of the year. I’m not getting my hopes too high for a quick turnaround, especially with the extended deadline, but we’ll see...
  11. Just got a call for an interview! To everyone else who has interviewed, what was it like? Have you heard back?
  12. I just received an email from them saying my application has been forwarded to the program for review. I am expecting another email like the one that you got, because I am still taking microbiology and developmental psychology this semester (and anthropology and sociology next semester). I am taking these at Cuny schools, and their final grades are due December 27 or so. So I’ll be submitting them just under the wire.
  13. At the info session I went to, they said that they would only take your most recent test score.
  14. Same here. My last recommender submitted their letter around mid October. Still have to submit my grades for this semester as well.
  15. I also went to an info session last week where a woman on the admissions committee had said that it is first come first serve, and that they have had to turn qualified candidates away because they submitted too late. That being said, they also say that they don’t necessarily review things in the order they are received, so ??‍♂️
  16. Hello! I submitted my TEAS Scores directly from ATI and via PDF. I have not been told yet by the school that they are missing, so I assume that all is well. I have been told by admissions staff that the school does have ways of requesting your scores from ATI, but I am not sure if they can always do that, or can only do that if you authorized ATI to provide them.
  17. Hello! What's the status of everyone's submissions? I have everything submitted but a few grades for pre-reqs I'll get at the end of this semester. So far, I've received two emails from SUNY: one simply saying that they've received my application, and the second recognizing that the application is provisionally complete and ready for review by an evaluator, who will let me know if anything else is missing. It seems like some of you all have received a third email from SUNY saying that the evaluator has passed your application onto the program, or that you need to submit other documents. Is that right? How long did you wait for this email? Thanks! Hello! The application does calculate your overall and pre-req GPA. The school is pretty selective, so the higher the better, but I have heard that the application and selection process is pretty holistic. Wishing you the best!
  18. I am still waiting for a letter of recommendation to be submitted, so I think that’s why I haven’t heard anything yet.
  19. Hi there eluo, I definitely had the “already made a payment” problem. I ignored that and paid anyway. I think it’s bringing us into the payment system via Downstate’s collective login, so it’s registering payments for all types of applications that all applicants are submitting, not just your own. That being said, my application has a green checkmark next to the payment section now, so if yours doesn’t I would try calling admissions. They’re pretty responsive.
  20. Hello Nilo! If your GPA is a 4.0, then that’s great! They do say, however, that they want a minimum TEAS reading score of 80%. If you have experience in the medical field, perhaps that will accommodate for it, but I would try to take the TEAS again if I were you.
  21. Hello! I just submitted my application a few days ago. Downstate is my first choice school, and I am very much hoping to be admitted. My academic stats are generally pretty good (Pre-Req GPA of 3.92 so far, prior B.A. with 3.61 GPA, TEAS scores of 100% Math, 97.9% reading, 91.5% science), so I feel good about that end of things. Things I am worried about: 1.) I still have four pre-reqs to complete: Microbio and Dev. Psych this semester, then Intros to Soc. and Anth. next semester. 2.) While I have volunteer experience that is somewhat relevant, it is not in the career field (or in healthcare, for that matter). I had wanted to try to get some of that experience, but between working full-time, going to school part-time, and attending to my other volunteer commitments, I am pretty maxed out. I used my personal statement to explain how it has all brought me to nursing and prepared me for SUNY, but I am not sure if 3000 characters is going to replace volunteer or observational experience in the field. Is anyone else in a similar boat? If there are any current SUNY Downstate students on this board, were any of you in a similar spot with your application?
