  1. LOL this sounds even more interesting, I used to be in the military and work in medical soooo its right up my alley! Been searching for VA jobs but they are hard to get into. Thanks for all the info!
  2. Thanks for the input, looked into a few AWV PD jobs as you recommended, its a few companies here in NY that do that some bad and some good, with nice rates. Also I have never heard of medical examiner for the VA! Very interesting! Something I will look into and do some research.
  3. I work in NY, I know Im just very disappointed, Its a hard step backwards. I never felt entitled, Did some digging and found other hospitals are starting new NPs a bit higher than 115K more around 120 -125k , so I didn't do it for money but I still have bills to pay living in NYC is not easy. I still have my per diem RN job to supplement but its hard to work 4-12hr shifts every week days/nights with small children. I spoke to many of the doctors where I worked as an RN. They are trying to figure something out for me. So now its a waiting game. I appreciate everyones in put. I will stick it out as best I can. I understand that everyone has to put the time in. - Thanks
  4. HI there!! I currently started working here and I must say I am very disappointed, they offered me as a new grad 115K and only went up to max 118K but its cohens. No paid holidays and a bonus up to 8% every April. They recently had a pay increase but It did not apply to me. As a RN for 10 years I was making 135K so its a huge set back. But I guess each hospital may be different and I know the experienced NP pay is much higher!
  5. Hello, all In need of some desperate advice. I currently have a NP job working at a hospital 3 -12 shifts I have been working as a NP for about 5 months but the pay is 115K per year. I was working as an RN for 10 years and making 135K per year. I tried to negotiate the pay and it was not accepted, I thought I was able to manage the pay difference but it is too steep a difference. Should I leave the NP job and go back to the RN job, im still working there per diem but I end up work 4- 12hr shifts a week and I have 3 small children. The NP job is easy, and everyone is so helpful as a new grad very supportive but its very far from my house and the pay is not helping me. any advice? I would just feel like a quitter leaving. Do employee consider 6 months as experience? Thanks!
  6. Hello, I graduated last Year August, to be honest. I don't even remember, LOL I feel like it was such a traumatic experience that everything about that program is a blur. They changed all the rules on us mid game adding a camera, the program to watch us didn't work, changed times and dates on us, and something about that HESI test that some people failed but they STILL passed them after they made such a huge deal about, and when you question them no answers. But I do know finish those SIM cases, and Clinicals quickly that way you can focus on studying. And don't forget to register for you paperwork for boards. goodluck
  7. Hello all Has anyone in the NUR 625 sections received a grade for the final? I feel like im in Limbo. I don't know whether I graduated or failed, thats a terrible space to be in. ZERO communication from the school. I have emailed everyone and NO ONE responds. Thanks
  8. Hi there, the portfolio is not something you can share, it is a personal body of work that you have completed over the course of the program, all the documents should have been saved. Things like your barkley testing, CV, statement of philosophy. All the professional growth assignments and more, so the cumulative assignment is something partly personal to you. Also all the certificates you did during the program. Have not taken the HESI yet, but the first one was kinda tough, but hopefully with enough study I will not have to take it again.
  9. I believe its both, the grading is as follows Letter Grade Percentage Range A. 93.5 - 100 A- 89.5 - 93.49 B+ 86.5 - 89.49 B 83.5 - 86.49 F 0 - 83.49 you need an 84% on all quizzes and an 84% in the class overall as well.
  10. well that's comforting, Thank you so much for this clarification. LOL. It does well to talk to eachother, the way one person is viewing something maybe different to another. I did not see it that way, but im glad someone helped me with that. and also the final is not cumulative. time to study, good luck everyone
  11. OK I see, it says lowest test/quiz grade so does that mean either the average of the quizzes grade or the midterm grade or the final grade? or just the lowest test in general out of all the tests? Either way its a lot of miss information that needs clarification. Thanks for that info as well
  12. KaraL I know she said the SOOT was 3 points on the final, but changed it to the lowest quiz which does nothing, literally. Im just concerned now the entire class is studying the wrong material, Did Dr.C say she would email all of us for clarification?
  13. WOW!! this is interesting, but great news! .....Jen I sent you a PM
  14. It is clearly stated in the syllabus that the content for the final is from the midterm forward, but I guess stating the rules before a class is not a thing anymore. The final is cumulative and they told us at the last minute. Nothing we can do…except study and hope for the best at this point. They have changed the rules for this section of classes multiple times this semester already. I just want it over.
  15. the get you thinking is 6 pages of questions ........ I did most of it already an I have over 50 pages to study... its a lot, a whole lot, some of the stuff we should already know but its still a lot to include on 1 test but hey this is graduate level courses
  16. oh im hanging, the final for 622 is sooo much and I also have a final for 612 the same week and this 84% thing got all of us so worried. The stress is on 10 days until finals. I hope I can do this LOL
  17. HI!! I don't know why I didn't see this before! LOL , yes I did find preceptors, they approved my peds after long negotiations, and I found a preceptor for OB, but it so far it like an 1.5 hr drive from me but, I'm just doing it and getting it over with. This semester in general is just a lot to deal with, can't wait for it to be over.
  18. Hello, all Is anyone know any peds and OB preceptors on Long Island? I had both a Peds and OB preceptor but the school rejected them both and now im stuck with only a few weeks left before the semester starts to find preceptors during a covid spike. Called a few places and was already told not taking students at this time due to a increase in covid. any help is appreciated. Thanks
  19. Hello all does anyone have the syllabus for NUR 612 and NUR 622? im going into these classes next and I would like to know what is coming next. Please and Thank you
  20. I am so glad that we are finally accredited! Now we don’t have to worry about it anymore and just focus on passing classes!
  21. IV been doing just that, do in advance and post on the required number of days, it is doable, just tedious. And you have to be a pro in APA. I live by that APA book, even if I think I know I still double check and use grammerly they are strict on APA and the time requirements of your video comments. To my understanding they do need to graduate a class hopefully everything goes well, and we can all rest easy with the program.
  22. I spoke to the success coach and stressed that we need an answer, she said most likely by the Summer they will be accredited. I don’t want to start clinical’s and they not accredited. Also, has anyone in the program noticed they are constantly changing requirements and making things a lot more difficult, like the make sure you log in 3 times a week and comment and you must reply to every question the prof asks.
  23. Hello, all has anyone taken 608 Epidemiology and 614 statistical analysis as of yet? if so Which professors are best to take for these classes? Thank you for you responses
  24. Hi there! I’m just completing my first class now, and yes we are required to do video presentations they are hard at first but then you get used to it. Also they are very strict on APA. You need the APA 7th ED book and I also used grammerly. Everything you post make sure to have a journal article and follow directions very closely.
  25. Good luck! The program is going good so far, it’s a lot of videos we have to do, I didn’t expect that and I’m just not used to always speaking in front of the camera, but it’s going well. They are strict on APA so get that down on everything always. I’m still working full time and I have small children and it’s very manageable. good luck
