  1. For those that received rejections/waitlist offers: did the wording seem kind of vague? I found the language to be a bit confusing. My letter appeared to be just like any typical rejection letter with: ”I regret to inform you that due to limited positions and the competitiveness of the overall applicant pool, all available seats for the Summer 2021 entering class have been filled at this time.” ...rejected, right? But this was succeeded by: “If you are interested in being placed on the waitlist, please submit the Waitlist Reply Form...” So, not rejected??? I’d be curious to know if others who were rejected received the same mixed signals? Or if this is a typical waitlist “offer” for UPenn? The wording felt strange and ambiguous to me. Do they not have a set pool of candidates that they specifically put on their waitlist? Do they offer this only to certain rejected applicants just to see who’s truly still interested? I honestly don’t know if I was waitlisted or rejected? Or both? Haha thanks and congrats to those who got in!
  2. So this is it, right? We should find out decisions this week? Does anyone have any more information regarding decisions timeline?
  3. You can definitely get rejected.
  4. I haven't received it yet, no. I put it in my calendar to be on the lookout for it by the end of the month. So, maybe next week?
  5. It's so funny that you brought this up. I literally just watched this video again after I left my comment a few hours ago (I hadn't watched it in about 9 months and needed to refresh on specific details). It just gets me so excited about their program that I really don't know how I'm going to be able to wait another 3-4 weeks until we find out...
  6. Wow, I feel like you're in my head. I could have written this same post! Waiting to hear from Yale and Vanderbilt's Midwifery programs here as well. There is so much to consider for both schools and I've been having a hard time trying to figure out which one I'd prefer to go to. Of course, I would be thrilled to get into either of them, but there are so many pros/cons to each route. Is it true that we have to find our own preceptors at Vandy? That, along with the potential OMTA placements, is a bit concerning to me. I also applied to the dual track CNM/FNP and it appears that the FNP portion is all online. I don't really like online classes (although it's unavoidable at the moment) and that has me a bit hesitant. Other than those considerations though, I would for sure say Vandy's my top choice. So much to consider...but I suppose I should wait and see what my options truly are before making a choice! Good luck to you!
  7. Has anyone heard anything yet? Nothing on my end...
  8. Yes. They make another cut after the interviews. But, you never know. I know someone who applied, got an interview, and was then rejected. She then applied the following year and didn't get an interview. The subsequent (3rd) year she applied again and got in. So, if you don't get in, just apply again if this is where you want to go...
  9. Huh? Have you already received information about your interview date and time? The email says we won't find out that info until January (at which point I'm sure they'll inform us of who our interviewer is).
  10. Has anyone already filled out the financial aid forms yet? What should we put for Student ID # & NetID? And expected date of graduation for GEPN 2021 is what? May 2024?
  11. I received an email to check for a status update on the application around 10:55am EST this morning. I'm elated to be interviewing for NM/WHNP! I chose the last interview slot on the 15th, but I'm not sure if that makes any impact on decisions. However, I'm willing to take any help I can get haha. Anyone willing to share some of the things they're doing to prepare? What questions do you plan on asking? I'm also very excited to make it to this stage of the process since I wasn't invited to interview last year. I hope today is filled with good news for most! But, I also know what it feels like to be rejected at this stage of the process, so for those that didn't get an interview, I feel for you...
  12. Yes, I had to submit it multiple times. So, I sent one version to schools that consider me a "1st year graduate student/professional" and then I went back in, changed the designation to "5th year undergraduate" and sent it to the schools that consider me an undergraduate. Basically I just had to submit it multiple times in order to be sure I sent the right version to the right school. Does that make sense? The schools will look at the most recent version you send them, so you can go in and edit it multiple times while also deleting or adding the different schools.
  13. Sorry to break off from the current topic, but I have a school question that I'm hoping others may have some insight on. Anyone else applying to multiple schools? I applied to quite a few for accelerated BSN/MSN programs and am getting conflicting instructions on filling out the FAFSA. For example, UPenn says to use the "5th year undergraduate" designation since they consider you to be an undergraduate for the BSN portion of the program. However, schools like Yale and Columbia want you to use the "1st year graduate/professional" designation. Unfortunately, there's no option for "I don't know, it depends on where I get in and where I decide to go"! So, I'm in a little bit of a dilemma because I don't know how to acquire financial aid package options from all of the schools (in order to make the correct decision for enrollment, et al) if I have to fill out the FAFSA differently depending on the school. Anyone else have this problem or know how to get around this? Much appreciated!

  15. I received this email on the 26th like you, but I just received it again(?) today. I don't know why I would receive it twice. Anyone else get this email more than once? It seems odd and makes me nervous...but then again, everything makes me nervous right now (between applications and election, etc.). Thanks!
  16. @jules you're kidding! Well I certainly hope we're the only 2 applying with such similar backgrounds. Good luck to you as well!
  17. Thank you so much Ohm108! This is very helpful and just the sort of information I was looking for. Much gratitude!
  18. Hello, I'm happy to have found this thread/forum as I'm sure I will have more questions over the next 2 months. So thank you in advance to fellow applicants and current students. Currently, I do have a few questions that someone might be able to help me with. In terms of the admissions process, applicants are required to apply to a chosen clinical specialty, but doesn't this make the applicant pool vary greatly per specialty? Theoretically, wouldn't one have a better chance of getting in if they choose a less popular specialty than the majority? Maybe YSN is only looking for individuals dead set on specializing in one field? But, if you were to be denied in one field, and think you might have comparable desire for another, wouldn't it be beneficial to be considered for both? Just food for thought... I plan to apply to the dual Nurse Midwife/Women's Health Nurse Practitioner track and was wondering if there are or have been any men in that speciality. Do any current students have a feeling of how that might be received amongst the fellow students (or even the admissions committee)? Lastly, I worry about my candidacy in regards to experience in and around medicine. I initially started doing pre-med in college and have a fair amount of those courses under my belt, but I ended up pursing a career in dance and have been performing professionally for the past 12 years. Simultaneously I have worked as a bartender and bar manager. I think my career experience can translate to health care well, but it is not immediately obvious on my resume that nursing is the next step. It's a clear career shift for me, and I'm wondering if that is something other students have seen or experienced? Have there been people accepted/enrolled who come from what might be commonly perceived as a completely different career path? Thanks!
