  1. @Veronica P, your concerns are valid. I'm currently in the program and it was not my first choice, it was my back up plan. My first choice, put their program on hold because of lack of educators and I was worried they would not reopen. I did notice SMU is lowering the admission bar with a lot great incentives like extended deadlines, no entrance exam, but they are also currently in the process of also lowering the amount of clinical hours students receive, reinstating preceptorships for the main Oakland campus but not the satellite campuses and still charging the same amount of tuition money to all. When I was considering joining this program, I was given the advice to only accept if I had no other options and that is the situation I found myself in. I truly wish I had some school pride and could recommenced the school but the price just doesn't match the experience they are currently offering. I know people who attended this school ten years ago when it was being run differently and I think that's where their good reputation comes from. SMU used to be a respected institution, but many things are shifting at this school right now and not for the better. At approx $1700 per unit for the ABSN program, I just don't believe it's worth it.
  2. I can confirm and agree with everything @gsg92 has posted. This individual is not a one-off disgruntled student having a unique experience at SMU. Their post is an accurate reflection of what is currently happening at this school. If you have options other than SMU, I strongly encourage you to consider them.
  3. Thanks! I never heard either way. Strange. Good thing I have backup plan. ?
  4. Have people already received acceptance/rejection notifications at this point?
  5. @rjay01 - Hi! Thanks so much for your comment. I appreciate your feedback and your honesty.
  6. I too was accepted to the Fall 2022 ABSN cohort at the San Francisco Peninsula Campus. My friend is currently in her first semester in the same program and same campus and is doing clinicals at SF General. When I asked her the same question you have, she said there is no Oakland clinical placement for the San Mateo campus students. I live in the East Bay and was hoping to be placed there. ???
