No problem! I wanted to be in the OR since before I started nursing school but It just wasn’t what I thought it would be. I stayed a little over a year. It was just very high stress and not the right area for me! A lot of people love it though!

Congratulations! No you don’t! We were in the classroom for a month and did peri op 101 together. Then you transition to the OR. I started right before covid hit so our residency wasn’t typical because elective cases got cancelled for a while. You will be with different preceptors in different areas for the first 5-6 months and then you will be put in your specialty and get additional training. I’m not there anymore so I’m not sure if it’s how they still do it! Also this was at BUMC so I’m sure different ORs do it differently. I hope you like it!

@Summer042 I graduated in August so I had no nursing experience. I was very nervous for the interview, so I tried to prepare as much as possible. I went through all the behavioral questions I could find and wrote my answers to them. They didn’t ask any questions I wasn’t prepared for. There may have been one that I didn’t have an answer for so I just said what I would do in the situation. Everyone was so nice! I think I had 5 people in there but was told I would have 8. It lasted about 30 minutes. They just want to get to know you and see if you’re a good fit! Just be confident! I received an offer on a Monday and was interviewed on the previous Thursday. They do references during the application process so I did not bring them with me. I start in January and I’m super excited to be in the OR! Are you applying for May?

I received an invite for a phone interview and had it this past Monday. There is a Graduate nurse expo next Saturday that the recruiter suggested going to!

Not bad! It was like 8 questions. Most were just your preferences and what you wanted to do. You get three chances per question so you have plenty of time to think of an answer!

Hey! I applied September first as well and got a video interview before I finished filling out the application, which was weird. I did it on Monday! This is my second time applying, so I’m hoping I hear something back this time. I’d say do the video interview soon. Last time it seemed like people I knew that did theirs right away got a call back. I waited a week and did not get a call back. Good luck to everyone and hopefully we hear something soon!
