  1. Yes, I have taken my exam and I passed in 75 questions. ATI prepared me well. If you score in the hard category and are getting 50% right I bet your good for NCLEX.
  2. I'm in the same boat. Waiting for my ATT, wanting to enjoy the sunshine, but also trying not to forget everything I learned in nursing school!! I am studying about the same as you. I'm taking 2 exams a day which takes me a little more than 2 hours. My school uses ATI so I have been building quizzes and taking the CAT exams. I also use the Saunders's study guide. My plan is to just keep plugging away until I get my ATT. Best of luck to you fellow new grad!
  3. Hello, New grad here preparing for NCLEX. I have been using ATI's adaptive tests. I've had 3 test shut off at 75 scoring hard difficulty ranging from 51, 67, and 84th percentile. Along with 1 exam shut off at 117 question level hard at the 26th percentile. Are these scores good enough for passing the NCLEX? I'm only getting a little more than half of the questions right. What should my goal be for scoring with these CAT exams? Thanks!
  4. Hi everyone, Soon to be new grad RN ? just curious how long did it take to get your key to test for the NCLEX after graduation? My paperwork is all submitted. The BON is just waiting for my transcripts.
  5. I just want to make sure I'm following best practice. I have watched a lot of videos on diluting IV push meds and they draw from a vial of NS. In clinical I've seen nurses use the flushes.
  6. Hello there, I am wondering if it is acceptable to draw up an IV push medication that is to be diluted in normal saline with a pre-filled normal saline flush? Or should I pull the normal saline from a single use vial of normal saline? I have seen in practice people using IV flush syringes to draw up IV push meds. I'm just wondering what is the best practice? Does anybody have any evidence base articles about it?
  7. Yes, that's a given. I'm looking for more specific information regarding infusion therapy. We were told we need to make sure we know the difference between a flush bag and maintenance fluids, what's having in the pts room, how old the tubes etc, how the IV flushes. Is there anything else I need to know to manage my IV sites/lines well.
  8. Hi, when hanging an IV medication in clinical what information do you need to have ready for your instructor. I need to able to manager my IV sites better and need some guidance.
  9. Hi there, I am a senior nursing student graduating in May!! I can't wait to start my career. I am a nurses aide for home care agency. I have worked there for 5 years. My question is, will visiting nurse agencies hire new grad nurses? The hospital isn't for me. I know everyone recommends two years of Med Surg, but this isn't where my heart is. I really meant to be a visiting nurse. Thanks!
  10. Hi, just wondering if nursing students generally pass meds during the OB clinical rotation?
  11. Hi everyone, just curious if anyone else has developed worsening symptoms of depression and anxiety during nursing school? I've cried everyday this week. I had a rough week in clinical and made couple mistakes. I'm starting to doubt my capabilities and question being a nurse all together. I'm feeling so low and anxious all the time. I literally feel like I'm going to be sick all day. Last year I got straight A's and was the top of my class. I'm in my last year now and I'm not so sure I can hang on. I have made an appointment with therapist, but it's not for a couple weeks. I'm really struggling. I feel like my instructors hate me and I feel incompetent. I'm just looking for some support and am wondering if anyone else out there feels the same way.
  12. I'm still unsure how to differentiate between the two. We have medication grids we're suppose to fill out with two separate catagories for side effects and adverse effects. I don't see how my drug guide book distinguishes between the two. It's really confusing.
  13. Hey all, I was wondering if some could explain to me the difference between adverse effects and side effects. My Davis Drug Book has usually two separate catagories for drugs, but some only have adverse effects listed. Thanks!
  14. Hey all - I'm not a strong math student. I scored 85% on the math section of the Teas, B- in applied college math, and an A in foundations of Chem. Do you think I'm capable of med Math? Is it mostly directional analysis (unit conversion) we did A LOT of this is chem.
  15. Finally heard from the director. She says I'm all set to start clinical!
  16. I'm hearing this response a lot. It's encouraging!!!!
  17. Just an update for anyone interested or had anything to say... I got my titer back and I was negative for Hep B antibodies. My PCP recommended picking up on the Hep B vaccine where I left off. She wants me to get a vaccine Monday and then come back for the final shot in 6 months. I won't show immunity before clinicals start. I'm feeling really upset. I really hope the clinical sites are okay with me currently taking the series. I'm guessing my director hasn't gotten back to me because we're still on summer break. I have worked so hard to get into nursing school. Cross your fingers for me.
  18. Thanks for the replies everyone, I have a voicemail and email out to my director. Still haven't heard back from her. The nurse at my doctors office recommended getting the titer done anyways then starting the sequence. I needed a titer for varcilla anyways. I'm still pretty stressed out, but thank you all for your comments. My clinicals don't start until mid October. So hopefully I'll have time.
  19. Hey Everyone, I'm currently having a melt down that I might not be able to start nursing school this fall. I just found out today that we need 3 doses of the Hep B vaccine or a titer that shows immunity before we start clinicals. Based on my records it looks like I only received 1 vaccine for Hep B in 2010. I'm getting a titer done tomorrow. Does anyone know what happens if I'm not immune? Can they give a booster that will give me immunity before school starts? Can this keep me out of nursing school? I am so upset. I could have taken care of this months ago if I was told. Thanks!
  20. Hey everyone, I'm curious what you all do for meal prep during school/clinicals. I'm trying to get organized and I struggle to eat properly when I'm busy. How do you all plan meals? Breakfast is the hardest meal for me. Thanks!
  21. Thank you again everyone. I am currently a nurses aide working in home care and everyone says I'll do fine interacting with patients. It's really the nurses that intimidate me! Lol but I'm working on trying to have a more positive attitude and not let those anxious thoughts prevent me from doing something I really want to do. I'm excited! I can't explain how much I appreciate you all chiming in! Thank you!
  22. Thank you so much for this!
  23. Thank you all for your advice and words of encouragement!
  24. Hi everyone, I am starting my first semester of nursing school this fall. All my prerequisite courses are done! I'm very excited to start nursing school, but I'm nervous about the clinical experience. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I am currently on SSRIs and have resumed therapy in preparation for the stress that comes with nursing school. My biggest fear is having a break down during clinicals. I'm afraid I'll buckle under the pressure and I'll cry if a nurse makes me feel dumb. My question is how do I grow thicker skin? How do I keep my composure and succeed in nursing school?
