To all others going to Downstate, I just Kind've woke up and realized that I never sent Downstate my FAFSA, do you think that is a big problem, im going to do it tonight but I just want to know if anyone else knows if funding will be limited for me at this point. thanks Eli Norman

Hi Ibambamama, There is no doubt in my mind that you did get accepted to Downstate. Your probably in their system as accepted and somehow they failed to reach you. It is typical of Downstate, you need to be agressive with them and call constantly. good luck, Eli Norman

Yes, I will be attending SUNY Downstate this coming up June. Have you heard any follow-up info from them or is it still early, for example: what we need to purchase, nursing kits, uniforms etc. Eli Norman

There is also Pace, I know very little about it. Everyone seems to be very happy with Columbia's program. I just got accepted to NYU and Downstate. From what I have gathered the only difference between the two programs is the price.

wow, its interesting that you say that the area is dangerous because that is one of my husbands concerns about me attending Downstate. im not scared myself but i dont want my husband to worry. oh, this is really hard. thanks for the info, Eli

Hi Thanks for the information. Can anyone tell me their experiences with safety in the downstate neighborhood? A big concern my husband has with me going to downstate is the safety issue as I will be using buses to get there and home. My husband had a bad experience while doing a research internship there a number of years ago and is worried about me having to take the buses. Also, can anyone give me an idea of what the daily and weekly schedule is ( as far as classes ) at Downstate? Thanks, Eli

congratulations on your acceptance to Downstate. I've been hearing so many conflicting things but it seems that NYU is not really worth the debt. Keep me posted if you hear anything else. I have five days to make a final decision. Thanks for the information. Eli

It was micro with lab and anthropolgy. They were also giving me a hard time last week. They said that I need to have all my grades in before they can consider me and that it would be beneficial to get them in before the deadline. Since i knew I wouldn't be able to I accepted NYU and was really nervous because their financial aid package is terrible and i would have to take out a terrible amount of loans. Now that I got accepted to Downstate I'm confused. I would like to go to the better school and the school that is more affordable. I just do not know which is the better school. By the way, with your high GPA I wouldn't be surprised of you recieve an answer from them soon despite what they told you about the pre-reqs. Im not sure that everyone in the admissions office really knows what they are talking about. Thats a big problem with the CUNY/SUNY schools. Good Luck. Let me know how its coming along. Eli

Hi, I just got accepted to SUNY-Downstate's accelerated program for June 2006, I also got accepted to NYU's Accelerated Program but it starts January 17th (very soon). I haven't taken my finals for 2 of my pre-reqs due to the transit strike, they all got rescheduled for next week, but I still got accepted. Hope that answers your question. One more question, does anyone know if it is worth it for me to take out the loans and go to NYU or should i go to Downstate and save the money. Is there a big difference between the two schools. Speaking with NYU graduates, they also complained that they didn't get the experience they expected. Anyone know? thanks,Eli

ok, new question. This morning i got accepted to Downstate which was weird because they were giving me problems, but i am not complaining. My main concern is which school is the better school and is there a salary difference for those that attended NYU vs. Downstate. Please help. thanks, Eli

Hi, thanks for the advice. I do have a pretty good chance of getting into Downstate because I have a very good GPA. However, due to the transit strike my grades from the fall semester are not going to be in on time for Downstate's application deadline. When I told Downstate about this they didn't seem to consider my situation and that got me nervous. It is not my fault that my finals got rescheduled but i guess they can not consider everyone's situations. So, to avoid a problem i decided to go to NYU. I figure I will pay the loans back slowly once I'm working and in the long run it isn't really that much money. From what I hear, NYU is a really good nursing program so I am just going to go and try to fight for more financial aid - it cant hurt. It would be nice to hear from anyone who has gone to NYU or is going this Spring. Thanks, Eli

Hi, my name is Eli, I am new to this site and wanted to know if anyone can offer me advice about selecting the appropriate nursing school. I got accepted to NYU 15-month nursing program but their financial aid package sucks. I also applied to Downstate's Accelerated program. I will not hear from them till after February 2nd and NYU starts January 17. I don't know whether to reject NYUs acceptance and wait to see if i get in to Downstate or just take out the loans. Can someone help me with this decision. Is NYU really that great of a nursing school that I should put myself in major debt. I have family obligations and do not want to make the wrong decisions; however, i also don't want to reject NYU to find out that i have not been accepted to Downstate. What are your experinces with these schools. Is anyone else Attending NYU this Spring. Any replies would be greatly appreciated because I am so confused and running out of time. thanks, Eli
