  1. I know it's weird to talk about pay but in these times when stuff is extra crazy, I feel like we should talk about it so that everyone can be aware of what they should be looking for. Let's talk about pay for new grads, as well as how it looks after that first year. I'm hoping this information will help everyone be able to accept or deny new hire offers. We shouldn't take less than we are worth! If anybody has any information on the pay scale at different hospitals in the Houston, Texas area can yall please share! It can be a range. I know some post their range on their websites but places like Methodist, TCH, HCA, and so on don't all share. I know what I WANT but I want to be realistic. Thank You, everyone!
  2. HEY, joining this forum! I am sooo all over the residency programs. Just so you know my school had an information session with Methodist. Their residency program for Summer opens in February. HCA says on their website that they are always taking residency applications. Something about being hired up to 6 months before you graduate. MD Anderson seems to have their clinical nurse residency program always posted for different units. If you want to get into their specialty nursing like research that seems to only be open a few times a year. I have not yet figured out that time frame though. I believe that TCH opens in March but I could be wrong. I currently work at St. Luke's but I forgot their hire date. I do know that they pick from their extern nurses first for their programs, so if you want to get into there look for their externship program. I'll gladly post more dates as I get them figured out!
  3. HEY, when I was accepted I had a HESI score of 91%. However, I am not sure where you got the 25 people. My cohort freshmen year was 140 students. They take even people who failed the HESI. You will have to do a remediation class and retake the HESI at the end of semester 1. I know it's a late reply but maybe the information will be helpful to others looking to apply. My GPA was about 3.3 also.
  4. If you were finished some classes during the application period you will have to resubmitted an official transcript to the nursingcas site. I got my acceptance a couple weeks ago and thats what the lady i was talking to told me. My new transcript was just verified so im sure ill finally getting the information from admissions now. Just a thought but if you wanted to get into the game try looking up patient care technicians. Those jobs are kinda like CNAs or medical assistants but they are more towards RN students, after you take a semester or two and do some clinicals you will have met their basic requirements and if you happen to do a clinical in the hospital they might hire you. Then you will already have a job in a hospital when you graduate from the BSN and you can just transfer to an RN.
  5. oh okay! yeah my application was verified/marked complete on like the 29th, the day before the april 1st deadline for round 2 early admissions so maybe you got it in way before me! I just sent them an email to ask about their timeline.
  6. are you a transfer student? Thats worries me more if we both applied before April 1 cut off and I haven't gotten my letter yet ? Did you get any other documents like an email or something? I wonder if i some how missed my letter.
  7. Yes, I submitted my application for the April early enrollment and im going crazy waiting to hear. Im sorry worried they will deny me because I was currently in Med Micro. This Monday the 13th is the 6 week mark, which is when they said they usually send out letters!
  8. You will know so much more after you complete the LVN course it wouldn't be that bad!
  9. You can always just do the LVN and then finish that and do the bridge to ADN --OR-- BSN which might be better and give you and edge when applying to a BSN program.
  10. I applied for the RRT program at KW. The pre-reqs are the same and the pay was like 10 k difference and i thought worse comes to worst ill finish the degree and reapply to nursing school with a better resume and skill set.
