Hi all! My apologies for the late response. I'm glad to see that some of you have started the process! I am currently trying to get a hold of a specific admissions representative. I mentioned I was a Kaiser Permanente employee and they give some sort of discount. Definitely something to ask about and get a discount on! Not sure how the process starts since I'm waiting to be contacted. I'm assuming classes are around 8 weeks at a time. I wonder if I'll be able to transfer some of the classes I've taken. Anyone know what classes are needed? I've decided that I would love to start next year. I don't think I'll be able to get everything together until October, but I'll see!

Hello all, thank you for stopping by to peek at my post. Has anyone gone through or is currently enrolled in Chamberlain's ONLINE RN to BSN program? A little background: I am a new grad (ADN) and just received my RN License. I have been working as a LVN and since we're still in a pandemic, I thought this would be a great opportunity to continue my education. I may transition to a RN role in the future within my current department at work. I realize transitioning as a new RN and a new job can be overwhelming on its own. However, that's the reason I chose this program because I hear that it is less rigorous in comparison to other RN-BSN programs. If anyone has anything to say about this program, pros/cons, tips, how the program and instructors are, how to save on money and tuition, advisor preference, how many classes are recommended to take at a time, anything, it would be greatly appreciated! Also, just wondering, does anyone know if Jazz appreciation would cont as a humanities class or elective? Please and Thanks in advance!

My class mates have also told me that they were told they weren't selected then a day before orientation, they were called as extras. You never know!

@ConnieLVN2RN @hnialee Stay positive! I believe my classmates may have gotten in with a 3.7 ? If for some reason you arent selected for this time around, try again! And don't put all your eggs in one basket. Apply to PUC and try communicating with MJC like you said. Also, make sure you bug your rep! I did and If I didn't my rep would have completely forgotten about me because she 'accidentally' turned my application in to the LVN department not the LVN to RN department. I made sure she brought my application to the correct department... anyway, it worked out. Stay on top of it ? Best of luck!

Hello, I'm a new grad currently trying to get in to Postpartum nursing/Perinatal. It's been tough to see any jobs available for new nurses in the midst of the pandemic and to find an accredited NRP program thats solely online. Where can I get my NRP? Are the online classes with no in person contact accredited? Any information is helpful! Thank you in advance. Also, I hear that once hired, most employers pay for or allow a certain time to obtain the necessary certifications. I have some preceptorship experience in the NICU, so I'm hoping it makes some sense to obtain my NRP before getting a job.

@EmilyFB Honestly, I didn't have good experiences from any other rep. Also, given the pandemic and dealing with different changes, I'm sure they're busy. If you're not satisfied with your current rep, you can call the school directly and request for another rep or go to the school directly (I'm not sure if it's open though, due to social distancing). I'm from the same area. PUC has an incredible program. Carrington is an OK program but it best fit my lifestyle as an on call LVN. The commute is not too bad either. No toll, opposite traffic, easy drive.

You should get in touch with a rep if you've completed all the requirements. They will tell you if you're likely to get in. I believe 3.8 GPA will give you higher chances in getting accepted, but give it a shot because your TEAS score is impressive and may compensate for your GPA (which is still good)

@Firefly1009 I purchased the ATI practice book and Both A & B practice tests through the ATI website. I think you really just need a passing rate for Carrington however, they may be more competetive with each new group. I recommend attempting to get a score around 70%, but I got in with a 65. This school tends to focus on GPA versus TEAS score.

@justineLVN For the first term, we are not at school Monday to Friday. We only have class/theory once a week. clinicals take up another 3 days of the week. They divide the class in 3 groups and we rotate days/times for clinical so the actual day of the week may vary. Keep in mind we are doing clinicals on weekends and evenings. Cost is accurate.

@justineLVN Sorry for the late response! The program is divided into two terms. Keep in mind schedules constantly change but this has been pretty consistent. First Term: First 4 weeks are like a transition period; lab is on Monday 8-2:30 & class is on Wednesday 8-2. So you're only on campus twice a week for the first month. Then the class gets divided into groups and your clinical day may vary (could be on a weekend) and class will probably fall on a Wednesday for another month. Currently our schedules keep changing for our groups because some professors are not available certain days of the week so they have to accommodate us. I was working part time for these first two months and now going on-call/ per diem due to the school schedule changes.

By the way, for those inquiring- the enrollment/application process was so frustrating. My tips: after the very long process of the back and forth calls/ emails/ visits gathering what you need just to apply, and once you've submitted everything they require (transcripts from pre-reqs and vn certificate or degree, highschool diploma, physical, immunizations, payment of background check and drug screen, paragraph on why they should choose you, 2 letters of recommendation, proof of employment, lvn license number, bls through american heart association, and whatever else, check your status at least once a week and get confirmation that your application has been sent up to the RN Department where they review your application. I say this with much emphasis because I ran into an issue where my enrollment rep sent me a code under the VN program... I asked my rep if that was the right code and form and she assured me it was. Come to find out, AFTER they have selected the students who have been accepted (I was patiently waiting for a call and would email every other day on the status) I was notified that I was missing something and had to show emails and proof that on my end it was not my wrong doing, but it was theirs. At the end of the day, she advocated for me and made sure I was re-reviewed and I got to join the group I applied for. Moral of the story, always get updates and confirm everything. If information is exchanged in person or over the phone, ask for written confirmation via email. Always always always keep a copy of anything exchanged or required by them. Best of luck to you all! After the application and enrollment process, you'll feel soooo relieved once you get that acceptance call and email.

@Jsingh1999 Hello. Definitely get in contact with either Toni or Kimberly if possible as your enrollment rep if you haven't already. I noticed during my orientation, they were the only enrollment reps who were able to get students through the application process. Just a heads up, make sure you have everything you need (all classes they require, TEAS test taken, your transcripts, your LVN license is not expired, and BLS, etc.) I know at least 3 people in my class who barely got 62% on their TEAS and are in the program because they have a 3.9 or 4.0 GPA. I would aim for a little higher though just in case someone has the same GPA as you and if it comes down to someone with a higher TEAS test than you, they will take that person. We have 24 in our class also, I think is the max they will accept in each group but I may be wrong. They do always change things up but this is the most recent information my instructors have vocalized. I have no complaints so far. I came from an accelerated vn program so unfortunately I'm quite familiar with last minute schedule changes for clinical rotations and class. I freaked myself out reading all the awful reviews however, I had extremely low expectations but to my surprise- the program is not even as bad as people make it seem. You just kind of have to be self sufficient. So keep your emails and copies of files so you don't run into any issues on your end. There is a new dean and she seems to know what she's doing. All in all, I'm enjoying it so far. Hope that helps.

@Bobalife This is for Sacramento Campus. Yes. I took my prereqs at Unitek and had to take other classes like psych lifespan and development since Unitek didn’t offer it at the time I took my prereqs with them. If for some reason Teri is your enrollment rep, kindly request for another. Also, keep in mind Carrington accepts students based on high GPA. If you have a high GPA (mine was 3.9) and stick with them through the tedious, back and forth-ness process for application and enrollment, you’ll probably get accepted. Also depends how many students apply the same time as you. Hope that helps.

@Yatz2019 you've made a great choice. I know Unitek does clinicals at some great sites/hospitals. I'm not sure where the sites would be for Carrington. I HOPE we can get a clinical at a hospital. Great job on getting accepted to both schools! @JChristy Also, another thing I did besides the ATI practice book and practice tests, I went on youtube and would search for people who got high scores on their TEAS for some tips. I also would go over topics from khan academy on youtube if I didn't have my practice book on me.

@JChristy Thanks! I didn't get into Unitek, only @Yatz2019 did. Although I did my prerequisites through Unitek, and had some credits from my community college that were transferable. I got accepted to the bridge program for Carrington in Sacramento. I was thinking the same when the time comes to do my BSN, that I would do it online. I would say to apply to both. Carrington's application process took longer for me than it did for Unitek's but, I got accepted to Carrington. I'm not sure what Unitek's schedule is like but I think Carrington's schedule is similar (probably will be M-F with a mix of class and clinical. For the ATI TEAS, I studied and purchased the ATI practice tests online and bought the practice book. I also studied a month before I scheduled my test because I needed a refresher on all the topics. I've taken it twice because my first time, I didn't study and barely got a 62% (passing score). I wanted to take it again to get a better score. Also, if you're interested in Carrington, I believe they will take a high GPA over a high TEAS score. I didn't score high enough for my recent TEAS test but I have a 3.9 GPA and I have heard they favor higher GPA's. (I could be wrong but this is from my own experience). Last time I applied to Unitek, they based their application off points; your TEAS score, GPA, whether you have a degree, and other factors determine your score. Higher score= higher on their list. Yatz2019- Congratulations on getting accepted at Unitek! I did all my prerequisites through there, but they haven't accepted me and I have been waiting for about over a year (constantly reapplying). So I decided to try it out with Carrington. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I believe Unitek might be a better option since its BSN. Also, just comparing reviews from students from each school, Unitek seems a little more organized. You can also consider which school is closer to you. Unitek was my first choice but Carrington would be a shorter drive for me. Best of luck to you! And if you get in to Carrington, and decide to go that route, let me know ? I'm waiting patiently for the news.
