  1. @Fornix90 Could you explain why it's not doable to do CSUF while working? I thought the distance learning option was created specifically for working RNs and the program is my top choice, but your comment has me worried.
  2. Hi everyone! I'm a first-semester nursing student at GWC (finals week is next week!). I was quite active on the Fall 2019 allnurses thread and it helped me immensely, especially when current students popped in and answered my multitude of questions. I'm happy to answer any questions that you all might have.
  3. You're still in high school, you have the luxury of time. To help with your decision, volunteer at your local hospital and find part time work at a local law office as an administrative assistant. You will be able to see first-hand a day in the life of each profession. I'll say this though- California has been oversaturated with new lawyer grads for a long time. Unless you graduate from a top law university, it will be very difficult to find a good position and pay off your student loans. Comparatively, doctors who get their degrees even from the easier Carribean schools are still pretty readily hired. On the other hand, after completing a med school program, you still have several years in a residency program that pays you close to minimum wage, considering your 12-16hr shifts and on call days. Being male is not an issue as a nurse. If anything, it is a benefit.
  4. @Chadabees I'd love if you could pm your email to me. Thank you!
  5. @JonEMT GPA earns the most points. At GWC, GPA gets 35 pts max and the TEAS earns 30pt max. In comparison, work experience only gets 10 pts. I've heard of students getting in with zero experience but great GPA, but not the other way around. I'd definitely retake the C class and work my butt off for an A, and delay the TEAS until I'm ready. Good luck!
  6. @Capito Congrats! I'll see you at orientation. And if I remember correctly, @Nurse2bSummer722 said it would be on August 7th.
  7. Not yet. They told me that we will receive instructions on the pre-enrollment requirements via email by early June.
  8. @Nurse2bSummer722 Hello, I'm in a similar predicament! Would you mind sending me your email too? Thank you!
  9. I received an email offering admission to the program on Wednesday! As previously stated, I was Alternate #5 with 81 points. For those of you on the waiting list, I hope this gives you some hope!
  10. @Capito I think most people will see a decrease in points with the new multicriteria guidelines since there were 4 new classes added. From what I can tell, what changed was: Eng/Psy/Comm was changed from 3 pts each to 1 pt eachSlightly steeper Science point distribution (and you will only get the max 35 pts if you have a literal 4.0 gpa, a 3.99 gpa is 30 pts)Military service changed from 4 to 3 ptsNURS G099 (Intro to Nursing) was added, 1 ptPharm/Crit Think/Stats were added, 2 pts eachMore people would have Critical Thinking & Stats done than Pharm since the 2 classes count for GE's. If I were to apply again, my points would decrease by 7 points.
  11. @nursejjoo Thanks, I hope you get in too! My points breakdown: 9 pts for Eng/Psy Dev/Speech25 pts for Science GPA (3.3)30 pts for TEAS (92%)7 pts for Bachelor's5 pts for Patient Care Exp (volunteer)3 pts for Life Exp (automatic)2 pts for 2nd Language= 81 pts @SummerOlaf Congrats to you!
  12. Hi everyone! I just received my letter, and I have been selected as Alternate #5 for admittance. I had 81 points. This semester seems more competitive than usual since anyone with 80+ points got accepted easily in the past. Seeing as some of you are declining your seats, I hope I'll get accepted soon! @skk97, if you got accepted, you must've gotten 82 points! Based on your & my results, it's likely that the point cutoff is 82 for this admission cycle. @dp_nurse1993 I live 5 minutes away from GWC, for reference.
