  1. Thank you everyone for the responses! I was finally able to get a moment to sit with a telemetry tech for some guidance and they confirmed your findings - ventricular bigeminy and the waveforms between are small from poor conduction or electrode placement. I agree that this assignment is a ridiculous way to have a beginner learn.. so I am extra appreciative of you all taking the time to help!
  2. We just started our cardiac module. I was given a random EKG strip from the hospital to measure/interpret Lead II and am having a devil of a time deciphering it. It doesn’t look clear cut like any of the rhythms we’ve studied in class. I know how to measure intervals, but I’m having trouble even figuring out the basics, such as: 1- where exactly does the p wave start ? 2- Is the t wave inverted? 3- What is the notched downward deflection between the QRS? Could that be an inverted p wave? Any help in figuring this out would be appreciated.
  3. Hey everyone. Wanted to share the health requirements for fall admission, assuming they are the same come spring. You will need to show proof of vaccines within 5 yrs OR have titers (drawn within the past year) for MMR, varicella, and hep b. You will also need a 2 step TB test with negative results (or chest X-ray if positive results) within the last year. Additionally, must show proof of TDAP or Td. Tdap is required unless Td was given within past two years. Tdap must be within 10 years. Season flu vaccine also required. All the forms and requirements will be included in your acceptance packet. You will also need to get a urinalysis and CBC, a physical, and show your immunization records to the doctor to sign off on. Copies of all your labs, immunizations, and physical will be turned into the school. If any of you are currently enrolled in AVC classes, I would recommend getting a lot of this done at the health clinic on campus. They do most (if not all) of these services for FREE to students. Don’t bother getting your physical done until you get your admission packet because the doctor needs to fill out the forms. Good luck!
  4. Thank you everyone for the info. I called sixcess drug screening to get a price quote and the lady said it’s a 40$ test but for the college students they only charge 25$. So cheapest one if you’re looking to save a few bucks which I’m sure we all are!
  5. Thank you! There’s still hope! Mail might be late for you too! I had emailed the department on Friday to see if they send out letters to those who don’t make it in this round..so if I get an answer from them I’ll post on here. Good luck!
  6. I got my acceptance today! And yes it looks like the name badge requisition form is not included
  7. Noooooo! Well that’s a disappointment did they give any info on when they would go out?
  8. Hi! No, nothing has come for the generic nursing program yet. They said mid May to beginning of June so hopefully it’s sooner than later!
  9. Update: I gave in and called to ask about timeline for generic RN Fall admission letters - the answer given was “They will not be sent out until probably May or June because the program doesn’t even start until August”
  10. The practice tests were both more difficult than the actual test in terms of depth of science content, but the grades on those are good indicators of how well you will do on the real teas. I did a little better on B than A. My actual teas score was just a few points higher than B score. I found reading thru the teas practice manual to refresh and doing some of those free teas quiz apps helpful.
  11. Hi there! I’m also a first time applicant for the Fall 2019 RN program...and super nervous! I figure they’ll send out letters by mid May seeing as that’s fall registration. At least that would make sense so those who don’t get into the program and still have some general ed classes to take don’t miss out. I really want to call or stop by the office to ask for a timeline but also don’t want to get on anyone’s bad side in case they get annoyed haha. Every day I get nervous when I go check the mail, then get disappointed. The anxiety is real!!
