  1. Could anyone please explain some other functions of normal saline bag used in blood transfusion?
  2. As Kallies said "This is a public forum, anyone is welcome to join the discussion good work experience or not", it is correct. Let's begin the next round of discussion. Is priming the infusion line with blood a wrong practice?
  3. Thanks TriciaJ. Your previous participation at this forum would be a great bonus to the forum. Did you check the response from other members at this forum? I believe you are a great nurse. Perhaps you did some typing errors in your previous posts. It wouldn't be a concern. I believe all of members at this forum would wish you all the best.
  4. The original post aims to let younger members lack of experience to check the response from some members at this forum. It is not expected for some younger members to blindly follow on what some other members said at this forum, as these younger members are either lack of experience or lack of judgement in front of complex issues. The post intends to let younger members practice independence in judgement.
  5. The next round of discussion is as follows: Is priming the infusion line with blood a wrong practice? Any nurses with 35 years working experience are welcome to join the discussion.
  6. Hi HarleyvQuinn, how is your assignment going on? Please show your study here. We need to mark your assignment.
  7. Thanks TriciaJ. I believe you are a great nurse. According to your reply "wouldn't use D5W for patients with diabetes", are you sure this practice is always correct for patients with diabetes?
  8. As you said, you only run blood with D5W. Are you sure that it is always correct for patients with diabetes, electrolyte imbalance, renal failure or heart failure?
  9. It seems TriciaJ demonstrated adequate confidence to join the discussion. It is great. I believe Triciaj has genuine clinical expertise in coincidence with 37 years working experience.
  10. In the nursing industry, there is a big ambiguity regarding whether priming the infusion line with blood is appropriate or not. Even some practitioners with decades of working experience still have different understandings. The post aims to improve the quality of care and promote patient safety. Either you participate in the discussion or not, it is your freedom of choice.
  11. Either you are a student, nurse, pharmacist or Instructor, everyone is welcome. As Kallies said "This is a public forum, anyone is welcome to join the discussion good work experience or not", it is correct.
  12. The post intends to improve the quality of care and promote patient safety.
  13. Hi HarleyvQuinn, talk about your practice here. If you make mistakes in your practice, let us know, and all of members will help you improve.
  14. Massive Transfusion Protocol could be quite different from general blood transfusion guideline. It aims to improve patient survival regardless of potential risks. However, once the risk of TRALI arises, the transfusion nurse could be quite busy at work, if the nurse has a few other patients.
