Are there RN jobs (local hire) in Damman/Khobar for a Korean-licensed RN? Where can I find out?

I'm applying for a job as a school nurse in a primary school (in an international school in the Gulf, Middle East). I'm re-writing my CV for this position. Are there online examples of resumes for school nurse jobs? Any advice? I'm 41, care for my 3-year-old daughter, don't have much nursing experience (nursing home for a year and orphanage nurse helper for 3 years), and I'm a nurse educated in Asia so English is a second language for me.

If I understand you correctlly, passing the CP requirements is sufficient for a foreign-educated nurse (like me) to pratice nursing in the US (in which state I haven't decided). The requirements: CGFNS test, IELTS, NCLEX, and the verification of my credentials (nursing college & foreign nursing licensing body). Is this correct? Would it have been sufficient to complete only CP and not the CVS? Is doing CP or CVS sufficient?

I have completed the CVS (Credentials Verification Service) so all my credentials have been verified. I now wish to write the CGFNS test. But this test seems to be only offered through the CP (Certification Program). What's the difference CVS and CP? Who would take CP? Who who take CVS? I want to just write the CGFNS test to get a nursing job in the Gulf (Middle East) as a local hire. The hospital I wish to work in requires the CGFNS test (but they haven't heard of NCLEX-RN). I don't want to have to resubmit forms and repay fees again to verify my credentials AGAIN just to write the CGFNS test. I have already done this and my credentials have been verified. Is it possible to apply to take the CGFNS test without going through the CP process? After working for a few years in the Gulf, I intend to work as an RN in the US. Is there any advantage for having passed the CGFNS and the NCLEX-RN in the US? Are the tests similar?

How do I enhance my ability to deeply understand the question-answering process? I have memorized a lot of nursing content but I can't seem to see the logical leap from that to applying this knowledge to answering questions. What's the trick?

Where can I find training to develop my critical-thinking skills (or problem-solving skills) and apply them to tackling NCLEX-RN questions? Up to now, I have spent much of my study time in memorizing nursing content from books. I have spent years doing this because this is what I am good at. But now I wish to learn how to problem-solve a question. How can I do that? Are there books or websites which do this? If I can conquer this, I think I can conquer NCLEX-RN. It'll be a sweet victory (on the 5th writing).

Thanks for advice. I could get my mind off NCLEX-RN, wait and work for a year and do it again in summer 2008. I'm living in the Middle East now so I can work without it. This may give me some practical hands-on training that I might be able to apply to NCLEX-RN since NCLEX-RN seems to be problem-solving by applying nursing knowledge to scenarios. But I'm worried that if I put this on pause for a year, I may lose momentum and not be able to restart my studies again in 2008 or whenever. I am a person with a one track mind. I like to focus on one thing. When finished this one thing, move onto something else.

Thanks for your advice. I've decided to give it another shot this summer. What's the waiting period until I can write again? Between now and the summer, I plan to try Suzanne's method. I know my main problem with NCLEX-RN: lack of critical thinking, absence of analysis of nursing knowledge to answer the questions. Isn't that the skill that NCLEX-RN tests? Isn't memorizing a lower-level skill that critical-skill thinking is built upon? I think that NCLEX-RN is not a memory test but a critical-thinking test.

I just got the results. I failed NCLEX-RN...again, for the fourth time. I have spent so much money in flights to those countries that have the NCLEX-RN (US$5000)...not to mention the NCLEX-RN testing fees. The results really show me something. Are my study methods inefficient? For the past few months leading up to the test, I've been studying for the test in my native language (Korean). I haven't seriously tried Suzanne's method. I tried that Mosby's website for a month but, after awhile, the questions started repeating themselves. I'm really scared now about what to do in the future. Should I give up and try NCLEX-PN or re-try NCLEX-RN again? Is NCLEX-PN a watered-down version of NCLEX-RN? If I can't pass NCLEX-RN, what future do I have? I'm 40-years-old and this is the only profession I know. Is God sending me message in all this? I wonder what he wants me to do. Another path? Anyone, please give me some advice. I'm in Doha, Qatar. I've just written the NCLEX-RN...for the fourth time. I've failed it three times before. I'm really hoping that my extra hard studying pays off this time. I've been studying for this test for years. I think I started studying for it in 2002. I'm really hoping this works because I don't know what I'd do if I fail it again. Has anyone heard of failing NCLEX-RN four times and passing it the fifth time? It sounds hopeless. I feel that, by the fourth failed writing, maybe NCLEX-RN is just too hard for me. After all, English is my second language. The language barrier may be too difficult for me. Is it so difficult to write that some people just can't successfully write it? What are the alternatives to becoming an RN? If I don't pass it, then what can I do professionally? Are there other nursing career routes that don't require an NCLEX-RN pass? Please pray for me as I write the test. I'll let you know what happens!

I've heard that NCLEX-RN will be changed this February 2007 to update or change the content to better reflect current nursing practice. Apparently, the content of NCLEX-RN is changed or updated every three years. Has anyone heard of this? My friend advised me that I take the test before it changes (i.e., by January) since I've written and failed it 3 times before in the past 2 years. That is, I have written it three times during this current three-year period before it changes. How important is it to take the test again during the same three-year cycle or period? What changes?

Do I need the CD with Saunders or just the book? I got the book but have lost the CD somewhere. My husband wants to help me with studying. Has anyone else found success in someone else helping you study (that someone would not be a nursing student)? I question whether my studying methods are helpful. Since I failed the test 3 times using this method, I wonder if I need something else. I like to memorize nursing content from various textbooks and test prep books. How can another person help? I'm an RN working in the Persian Gulf. I'm not a native English speaker and completed my RN program in a non-English international program in Asia. I'm looking for a NCLEX-RN prep course that is tailored for the needs of international students. I looked at the Kaplan online course which says it is tailored for international Ss like me. I'm working as an RN in the Persian Gulf but want to upgrade my skills to a BSN at a US post-secondary institutition. I'm not an American citizen (a Korean citizen). Can I do a BSN course completely while I'm working here, or do I need to take some classes or labs that require me to be in the US? Also, which colleges/universities accept non-US citizens to take their courses?

I am foreign-born and foreign-educated nurse who wants to be a licensed RN in New York State. I have been certified already by CGFNS. I have written and failed the NCLEX-RN three times but I am bound and determined to write it (or an equivalent) AGAIN). I shall never surrender! Which exam is better to take to become a licensed nurse in New York State? Can I take CGFNS Exam instead of NCLEX-RN or is NCLEX-RN an absolute requirement to be an RN in NY? If so, what are the benefits for taking the CGFNS Exam? I've heard the CGFNS exam is a diagnostic exam or a predicter exam for writing NCLEX-RN. If so, I couldn't understand why anyone would spend time (and money) taking the CGFNS exam if it itself had no value. Why not do your own diagnostic NCLEX-RN? I am currently living in the Middle East doing some other work so I wish to minimize the costs of flying to write exams.

I failed the NCLEX-RN -- for the third time! Maybe I wasn't meant to work in the US!?! I'm Korean and am studying for the test using the Korean language, from this website www.kdnclex.com but I don't know if this is the best way. I tried NCSBN's online course and found it not helpful. Are there any other folks out there whose first language is not English and is studying for NCLEX-RN? What did you do?

When does the Candidate Performance Report report come to failed test-takers (like me)? I have failed twice in the past and have never received a candidate performance report. Is their a minimum number of NCLEX-RN questions that need to be anaswered before a Candidate Performance Report is mailed out?

I completed 85 questions in NCLEX-RN I just completed. What are the chances of passing? Is such a small number mean I probably failed? This is the third time I've written NCLEX-RN. If and when I fail, how can I get the Candidate Performance Report from Pearson or NCSBN that shows me how I did? I haven't received it the last two times I've failed. I emailed both Pearson and NCSBN but they did anything about it. I think my basic problem with studying for NCLEX-RN is remembering the info. Each question requires so much info to be remembered. Can you help me with a better studying method? What are the methods out there? Can changing my studying methods really affect my ability to remember the info?

I'm on vacation and plan to write NCLEX-RN in the US in July. I'm flying from London to Calgary (with a US stopover) so I need a city between these points to stop in for a few days to write the test and look around. Where is a good city to write it? Does it matter which city? What cities would others recommend for sight-seeing and lots of green?

Hey, I took the NCLEX-RN twice and failed. I only did 75 questions. I felt it depressing but it was okay. I wasted some money taking useless online courses but now met an outstanding tutor. :balloons: That was the key!

I'm hoping really hard to pass it and make my dream come true....to work in the US!!! Has anyone written NCLEX-RN in London, England? Was it a good experience? What inexpensive hotels did you stay in while you wrote the test?

Hi, I would strongly recommend anyone contemplating taking that course to strongly think again. If found it not only unhelpful but discouraging. It just gave me pages and pages of content/theory. There was nothing to relate it to answering actual NCLEX-RN questions. I know my content upside down but I can't apply it to answering questions. I like to call this gap in knowledge critical thinking skills. Also, looking at a computer screen for so long was tiring...more difficult than looking at a page.
