Hey! How do you guys feel about me making a facebook group for our Feb 22 cohort? Since we will be meeting each other soon, it would be nice to put a face to our name and share our journey together, ask questions, give advice etc. Plus, it can be super intimidating on the first day walking into a room full of smart, competitive, and eager new grads ? I have my test scheduled for the 10th. Should I reschedule it sooner? Because I know our start date was the 14th or 21st... something like that.

I think that receiving an offer from Mayo is such a huge accomplishment in itself, especially how competitive it is to get in as a new grad (for the phoenix location at least). Mayo only wants the best of the best. I believe that the sky is the limit after having worked at a presteige location like "Mayo". They have a one of kind onboarding for new nurses that is one year long instead of throwing you into the wolves after 3 months of orientation at Banner. Banner has unsafe ratios, I did cardiac PCU clinicals at banner and she had 6 patients. My friend that started at banner PCU as a new grad became a charge nurse in 9 months (and didn't pay her as "charge nurse").... which means new grads teaching new grads... I would say mayo is very *plush* meaning workload is reduced, patient care/safety is better, and pay is better. Plus nights is $6 more which is nice. You will ease into becoming an independent nurse, instead of learning on the fly.

I can't remember if that's hospice and palliative care or not. The nurse to patient ratio was 1:4. What other job offers do you have?

I will be on 3C nights. Has anyone done their clinicals on that floor and can speak to what the culture is like on that unit and how critical the patients are? Also, have any of you done nights before and can tell me how to adjust/prepare or the routine to fit life in LOL? I've been to almost each floor (5C, 4C, 2C, PPPU) except that one! And each experience was incredible, so I'm sure that 3C will be the same.

My interview was on the 24th, got a call on the 1st. Last name starts with P. I was interviewing for PCU (I really wanted ICU) but any unit would be a valuable experience.

Who else put down multiple colleges? I put all 5 choices down hoping that will give me a bigger chance of getting a spot. I will literally drive an hour each way if that means I can start this fall.
