I talked to a recuriter the other day, she said it was formerly not common to have lot of HH travel jobs but it is rapidly growing, she placed 10 Hh nurses that week. As far as why? Its not really any different as to why all the other hospitals 7 facilities need travlers, they dont have enough staffing. Alot of HH agencies have a high turnover, some nurses enter it and never having done it before hate it due to the extra paper work and the autonomy you have and they feel more secure in a structured enviornment and quit and go back to hosp. I would never want to travel in certain cities I can think of right now but there are some it prob wouldnt be to bad like the smaller rural areas, I am thinkin about it for next summer but wonder how hard it would be in a totally new city? not knowing where anything is at. Even with a navigator it would be scary I think.

I was just wondering how many pts? do most of you see a day? Do they have the weekend/baylor positions at your agencies? They do at ours and it seems 5-6 takes a whole day but some are seeing 7-8 a day and 9,10,11,12 on the weekend baylor shifts. I wonder how can they be spending any time with the pts at all and doing that many per day, even if you spend 30 min on a regular visit by the time you add in driving time and all (most are not in real close proximity) without you are out half the night, I dont know how they can be that fast? My problem is I would rather be thorough than fast, you cant make any money that way I guess. Also, there are some days all is going well and I like the job and a good amt of days its constant chaos or things go not as planned and I hate the job. I have never wavered in my feelings before about a job like this, I always knew where I stood. This is not the case as my feelings change daily it seems. I mean it hs its benefits like freedom, and not being on the floor but it has drawbacks also like all the driving time you woul be getting paid actual hourly time in a facility, you can work 7 days straight in home health and you still wont get time and a half. Mileage is suppossed to be like .50 cent hr per govt set rate, gas has gone back up and its still .44 or .46 cents here, what kind of mileage pay are most of you other nurses getting? Any ideas on how to get faster? Some of it has come with time but I guess I talk to much with the pts cause I enjoy them.

I would like to respond to the lady who said she put 28,000 on her new vehicle in a yr, this sucks, now have 7,000 on my brand new car in just over 3mo. I have decided to park it and buy a cheap economy car for HH
