  1. I've accepted an internship elsewhere, but I wish you all the very best of luck and hope that you get to spend your summer at Duke!!! you're gonna rock it!!
  2. I know!! I can't wait! I'm from Tennessee and go to college in Alabama, and I've never been that far north, so I'm pumped to see what it looks like!! Also super excited for it to be less hot (and hopefully less humid) than it is down south during the summer
  3. I'm about 13 hours away and am planning on driving too!
  4. @carv I'm not entirely sure. Someone from last year's program commented a while back that it's $200/month. I saw another person say it was $200/check (so roughly $400/month). I reached out to the girl who was on my unit last year, and she said she thinks it changes each year, but that Mayo definitely pays a large amount of it. She said she would absolutely choose the provided housing again if she had to do it all over. She said it's so cool because you get to hear everyone's stories from all of the units at night, you never feel alone, and you can make some really great friends. So I'm not 100% sure how much it costs, but I'll definitely be living there!
  5. @carv I haven't been able to all day. Something about the network not being secure / the server not being found
  6. the group is available! "Mayo Summer III Externship 2019". Let me know if you can't find it or can't join for some reason. I'm not very tech savvy, so I wouldn't be surprised haha
  7. I'm planning on making a facebook group! It won't let me until I have the name of one other group member, so if anyone feels bold enough to comment, please do. OR you can private message me and I'll add you that way! After it officially gets created, it'll be called "Mayo Summer III Externship 2019". I'll let you know when it's up and running. So to the first person who wants to be added, send your info my way and we'll get this ball rolling!!
  8. I got in!!! I'll be on the Hematology floor! (also not my first choice, but still so excited!!)
  9. no, and it's KILLING me to have to wait this late in the day
  10. I want to say this before we find out who gets offered spots. Because if I am offered one, I don't want this to sound cheap or snooty, and if I'm not offered one, I don't want this to sound insincere. But I'm seriously so honored to have been along on this journey with you guys in this forum. The fact that we are still here and in the top 100 is remarkable. I'm proud as punch to be surrounded by your company. Making it this far is such an amazing achievement. No one can ever take away the fact that we at least made it this far. I truly do wish you all the very best as we anxiously await these next couple of days. GOOD LUCK!!!
  11. mine too! Whenever I logged in, it made me change my password and I got super nervous, but it was just time to change it, nothing special. All that anxiety for nothing, haha!
  12. If I had any info to share, I would! It definitely is hard to find anything about it. I did manage to find a previous forum for it, and it appears that they didn't find out until the end of March. I have no clue how many they pick or when we'll actually find out. But here's to waiting and hoping!
  13. @carv 1. ICU (top 3: Trauma/General Surgery, Medical/Surgical Transplant, NICU) 2. Hematology/Oncology 3. Inpatient general care (top 2: Trauma/General Surgery and Float)
  14. @stieni01 congrats!!! that's so exciting!
  15. Hey y'all! I applied to Duke's 2019 PNA program and just wanted to start this forum to meet any other applicants and anxiously wait through the decision process together!
  16. mine also says in review still! Whenever I called the placement office last week, she said, "It looks like y'all are supposed to find out the week of the 11th." So I'm REALLY hoping it means before the 15th, but also trying not to get my hopes up or else that week will drag along sooo slowly
  17. what did everyone end up listing for their units?! so curious to see all the different types of nursing this group might be interested in!
  18. @Marie1012 I received an email letting me know. My last name starts with a B (idk if they do it alphabetically) at 11:30am central
  19. @qwert431 I also didn't make it. Good luck to everyone else!!
  20. I haven't applied yet, but I definitely plan on it!! And hey, don't worry about it! If it makes you feel better, I have 0 paid work when it comes to patients. All of my work experience is retail and customer service. So just show them the best version of you and have confidence that they'll look past anything you would consider "less desirable".
  21. @bruhbsn I just called the placement office to ask. She said that the more information we provide, the better they can place us where we'd more like to be. So if you'd rather have your second sub-specialty in your second choice than your last sub-specialty in your first choice, then that would be a great thing to list in the additional comments section. But she did seem to think that ranking every single specialty might be better in terms of making placement easier for them. I also asked if she knew how the finalists were selected - GPA? essay? She said she wasn't sure, but she thinks that they really just look at them holistically. That they've already gone over things, and with the final 100, they just review our apps more in depth and pay even closer attention to everything. She was seriously so stoked about the final 100 (not sure if it's actually 100 people or not, but that's what everyone seems to call it). She said it's such a huge accomplishment and that she wishes us all the very best! I thought I'd pass that along because regardless of what happens, it truly is an honor to have gotten this far!!!
  22. is anyone going to list anything in the "anything else we should know" box for preferences?
  23. I made it to the next round too!!!! let's do this thing!
  24. @INSPYR mine still says that, too! don't worry! my last name starts with a B, if that's helpful ?
  25. my "withdraw" application button just disappeared!! so hopefully we'll have answers soon!
