I'm not sure either. IDK what they plan on doing with clinicals. Are hospitals still going to let us in? At this point it seems to be too much of a liability to the school. Because of that I was thinking clinical hours will be in the schools SIM lab; however, the email from the schools president stated we can't go to the school at all, so there goes sim lab ?

Just an FYI about castle branch. Get your stuff in as soon as you possibly can! And keep on them! It says it has 3-5 day turn around time, well..... we have people in my cohort who have waited up to 5 weeks for anything to be accepted by them. A big majority of my class had issues with them taking forever to accept documents. Myself included. The physical forms that were given to us during orientation were 5 pages long. Castle branch kept rejecting it saying I need to submit all SIX pages?? Come to find out the form they were referring to was from 2018. The new 2019 form only has 5 pages. Anyways that took a good 3 weeks to resolve. There are people who cant go on to clinicals because of castle branch taking forever. I don't mean to scare you, I just wanted to let you know so you all can make sure to keep on them and get stuff in ASAP. Also, we are Fall cohort, so maybe they were busier then normal because of all the other colleges and universities starting in fall submitting their stuff (IU and other big Uni's use them too)...So maybe since you are spring, it'll be smoother. I hope it is!

Ivy Tech Spring 2020 Hopefuls
Hey all! I got accepted into the Bloomington Fall 2019 ASN program (start MONDAY... Nervous!!). Anyways, I know how stressful this waiting period for the acceptance letters is. I just wanted to give you all some encouragement! I know that minimum teas scores and total program points for acceptance are the big question... well obviously, this differs by campus and how strong the applicant pool also plays a role. I personally got a 78 on my teas and 55 total points, giving me a total of 133 and I got in 1st round. I also know someone who got a total of 127 and got in ASN 1st round. I think the highest I heard for Bloomington was 148 (yikes!) Anyways just take a deep breath, you got this! If u haven't taken the TEAs yet, reading, math and English were pretty simple, but science was tough! It covered a lot of endocrine system questions, so make sure to study up on science! I personally bought the ATI mometrix (sp?) Study guide, made copies of the answer sheets and quized myself that way. However, as mentioned previously, science is a killer. The momentrix book will over prepare you for English, reading and math (I got a 98 on the English part!!) But not enough on science, so find another source to study for science. Anyways, you guys got this! Just take it one step at a time! And trust me, when you get that acceptance email you will be soooooo relieved! But... also remember, that's just the 1st step to this journey, don't lose focus on the big picture! Good luck guys! Btw, anyone applying for Bloomington?

Going into nursing with no prior medical experience. Am I insane?
I've been kind of worried about how this is going to work. So... I've been accepted into my schools Fall nursing program which I'm so excited for. However, I have absolutely no prior medical experience. Is this going to hurt me? A lot of people from my prerequisite classes were CNA's or PCT's etc... I feel like they will have a huge advantage over me. I have worked with the public all my life. I am probably one of the very few people who can honestly say this, but I love interacting with people! I've successfully delt with happy, sad, angry people. (My degree in psychology also helps that lol). I have worked as HR for a national home health care company, and a general manager to a few subway restaurants. With each of those jobs I've had to deal with a lot of stress. So I know I will do well when it comes to stress and communication with people. Also, gore doesn't bother me. But I'm just worried I'll get lost with all the lingo. I am taking a non required med term class this summer hoping that will help some. Anyways, what are your thoughts? Anyone else in this same predicament? Anyone else successfully arise through this same thing?

I'm not applying to either of those campuses, but from what I was told by the Bloomington's nursing school admin assistant, anything in the 130+ range is a good competitive score for the ASN program. Typically mid to high 120's are good for the LPN program. So if you have 133 for LPN, you should be good to go! I also have 133 but applying for ASN, LPN as a back up. I hope 133 is good for my two campuses ? (Bloomington primary, Terre Haute secondary) Hopefully some of us should be finding out this weekend! Good luck everyone!

From what I understand, the first round of acceptance letters will go out a week after applications end. I don't know if this is how it is at all campuses though? This is what Bloomington has implied. I'd figure they would all be the same though
