Debating between BSN or ADN programs, please help!

I'm in the same boat as you! I was worried because of the stories I've heard about ADN nurses being unable to find work so I did some research. It appears that most hospitals that won't hire ADN nurses are "magnet" hospitals. The magnet hospitals won't hire anyone with less than a BSN because they get funding for having BSN nurses. But, if you live in an area with a high demand for nurses hospitals will hire an ADN. Honestly, I just decided to go for the BSN because I want to work in a pediatric hospital and the BSN is pretty much required at the hospital I'm hoping to work at. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  2. You should be fine as long as you get vaccinations soon. Depending on where you live you might not be able to go to college for any degree without vaccinations. My state college required proof of immunizations to be able to register for classes. Without immunizations my college does not allow you to be an on-campus student. Looking around, it looks like most state and private colleges follow the same rule. Try talking to your parents about your desire to be a nurse. Also, if there's a specific college you have in mind research that college's policies regarding immunizations. Odds are if you can't even go to college without immunizations your parents will allow you to get them.

    Anatomy and Physiology 1 Tips?

I'm taking A&P 1 over the summer and I've heard it can be really difficult for people with absolutely no A&P knowledge. I really need to get a head start on learning the basics before the class so I can have a grasp on the fundamentals before starting. Any suggestions for what areas to study and any resources I can use? I plan on using Khan Academy and I have the Cliffnotes Quick Review book. Thanks in advance!

ADN then BSN or go for BSN?

I'm having a hard time deciding if I should go for an ADN then do an RN-BSN program, or if I should just go for my BSN. The ADN program I'm considering is a two-year program, not including pre-reqs, and I could complete my pre-reqs over the Summer and Fall of next year. The BSN would require three semesters of pre-reqs (Summer, Fall, and Spring) but the nursing part is only two years. I'm a sophomore in college right now and I just decided to switch to nursing. I'm just not sure if it's a good idea to get an ADN first or not? I've heard that it's hard to get a job with just an Associate's degree. I appreciate any advice people can give, I just really want to hear another student's or nurse's experiences/advice as I don't know any nurses to ask.
