  1. Out of curiosity, to those of you who got invites, what grades did you apply with? Were they all straight As?
  2. Yes, I got an invite at around 11:30 this morning (I was one of the later ones, I think). Congrats to everyone who got invites! To the rest of you, don't stress, I'm sure they will still be sending more out by the end of the day. Good luck!
  3. I am sure they will send more emails tomorrow, don't worry! And yes, the information session will be online next Monday, October 5th from 4-6 pm. The interview session will also be online and will be held on October 30th from 9-10 am. Hope that answers some of your questions
  4. I only got the email 15 minutes ago so they are probably still sending them out! Don't worry!
  5. Hey guys, I just received an invitation for the information session! Anyone else?! ?
  6. Hi all, I'm a prospective student looking to apply to Langara's BSN program for one of the upcoming intakes. Could anyone tell me what letter grade to percentage chart Langara uses for the pre-req GPA calculations? For instance, what percentage ranges qualify as an A+, A, A-, B+, etc.? Any insight on this would be appreciated!
  7. I think they may just not have updated it on your application checklist yet. As long as your transcripts/documents have already been sent in, I wouldn't worry. I know my post secondary transcripts were showing as "in-progress" for the longest time (around 2 weeks) before they were shown as "met."
  8. Yes, you're absolutely right about that. There's nothing we can do now but wait and hope for the best, and hope that we do well in the next stages. Best of luck to you!
  9. Hi @KelseyR, Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you know if any of the other applicants in the intakes you applied for were accepted with a B? You're right about there being other ways to boost our score (references, essay, interview), so I'm really hoping my 1 B doesn't bring me down... As far as the essay/interview goes, are you able to shed any light on the nature of the questions asked? From what I understand, the interview asks more general "job interview" type questions, but what is the essay prompt like? Is it a nursing related question? Thanks again for sharing your experience! All the best to you and your future education/career goals!
  10. If I remember correctly, you're also applying with 3As and 1B? I hope both of us still have a chance! I was retaking my English 12 from an online school in Surrey.
  11. Hi everyone, I just found out today that the rest of my English 12 course won't be marked until September. Meaning that I will be applying for the January 2021 intake with a 'B' in English. While I have As in the other 3 pre-reqs, I'm a bit frustrated because my instructor didn't bother mentioning until today that I wouldn't be receiving a final grade for the course until September. I'm just really hoping I still have a fair shot at this intake with my 3 As and 1 B. ?
  12. Hi @Plumeria21, You can definitely submit more than 2 references. It doesn't mention anywhere on the website a minimum/maximum number of references - I sent in 3. You should be fine with 2, but I don't think there's any harm in sending 1 or 2 more if that's what you want!
  13. Hi Rupali, I wouldn't worry too much about your B grade. There were many people in the last intake who got accepted with one B. As long as you have As in the other 3 pre-reqs, you should be good!
  14. Hey guys, Hope all of you are doing well and making progress with your applications. I'm just finishing up my English 12 online. I got all As in Biology 12, Chemistry 11, and Math 11. Best of luck everyone, you can do it!
  15. Hi Caroline, I initially applied for the September 2020 intake, but unfortunately I wasn't able to finish my pre-reqs on time so my application wasn't complete.
  16. This is really helpful! Thanks Chantal, you've been really thoughtful with sharing your experiences/answering my questions. It's really appreciated. CONGRATS again on getting accepted into the program!
  17. That's good volunteer experience for sure! As far as volunteer opportunities go, I wish I could help you. Unfortunately, as you've mentioned, the pandemic is making it hard for volunteers to gain any experience. I work at a seniors long term care facility, and to my knowledge, all facilities are closed to visitors/volunteers until further notice. Hopefully the volunteer hours you've accumulated so far will work to your advantage for this application because I don't think any facilities/hospitals will be open for volunteer opportunities for the next several months. Nonetheless, I wish you all the best!
  18. Hi there, Welcome! It's nice to see so many prospective UFV BSN applicants on this group. You seem to have great experience, which will hopefully help with your application. I wish you all the best with completing your pre-reqs, too. Feel free to ask any questions along the way!
  19. Hi Rupali, Welcome to the forum! Please feel free to ask any questions regarding the application process to UFV's BSN program/other related questions. We are all here to help/support one another! Yes, nursing is highly competitive, but I'm sure you can do it! You already have an A+ in Math, which is great. I'm sure you'll do great in English, too. Where are you taking your courses? Also, if you feel comfortable sharing, what is your educational background/health care experience? I wish you the best of luck in completing the pre-reqs and throughout the rest of the application process!
  20. Yes, I would think so. I've been reading through older forums for previous intakes to UFV's BSN program, and most people that were accepted had straight As in all 4 of the pre-reqs. I have seen a few people here and there get accepted with 3 A's and 1 B, but very few. On the website it says that shortlisted applicants have a minimum of 2 As and 2Bs, but I think when considering the competitiveness of the program, 4 As is what guarantees an offer, along with good scores in the other categories.
  21. Ahh okay, that makes a lot more sense. Thank you for clearing that up for me!
  22. I wouldn't say grades are THE most important to get in. GPA, health care experience, the essay, as well as the interview all play a role in determining admission. Each category is worth a certain number of points, adding up to 39 I believe. Those with the highest number of points (out of 39) receive offers, and my assumption is that those nearing the cutoff are placed on the waitlist.
  23. CONGRATS! Would you be able to explain how the waitlist process works? As far as I knew, I thought UFV didn't maintain a waiting list. Is it in case people decline their offer? Also, if it's OK with you, would you mind sharing your grades/health care experience since you were waitlisted? (I'm applying for the next, Jan 2021 intake). I hope you get in!
  24. I retook all 4 of the high school pre-reqs through SAIL Academy. I just have English left to complete.
  25. CONGRATS everyone! I'm so happy for you all. All that hard work and waiting finally paid off! Wish you all the best in the program ?
