Hi! I went to this school for my bsn and considered the FNP program! How has it been so far and how are your clinical placements? My main question would be how many hours of clinical do you need to complete in a semester? Tell me all LOL thanks I appreciate it in advance!

Hey everyone! Im about to apply for the Duque unit! how are you applications coming along? I initially wanted NICU but I don't have my BSN yet so im a little hesitant applying for a medsurg based position.

I wouldn’t be able to tell you that because they place you into groups for clinicals and assign you on a specific day. You’re able to trade with another student if that specific day doesn’t work with you.

Yeah everyone’s experience will be different and community college RN programs are overall “harder” which is why they’re so stressful to get into in the first place but I don’t regret my decision at all. I like pacific college becuase it doesn’t give me the “fail a test and you’ll fail the semester” vibes that other schools drill us with. Our med surg instructor sally saites is amazing, she works with you if you’re struggling and is very thorough in her lectures. She’s also very approachable and understanding. All the professors I’ve had so far have been great, no complaints about them really.

There aren’t any NCLEX scores becuase the very first cohort hasn’t graduated yet. This program is that new. I’m in cohort 3 and To be honest the first term was very bumpy but we are not in term 2 and it has gotten a lot better. I’m sure as time goes the school will become better, just got to cut them some slack since it is a smaller college. I’m an Lvn already so I’ll be very blunt and just say all nursing schools are self taught either way lmao it’s really what YOU as the student put in. Pay attention to lectures, don’t miss any class or clinical days, study hard and manage your time wisely and you’ll be fine. Being in covid times also doesn’t make it any easier with zoom lectures and everything online compared to when I went to Lvn school in 2011. Times have changed. For me with prior medical experience the material isn’t too hard to grasp it’s just a lot of readings and learning time management but my classmates who have no medical experience are having a tougher time. Which is to be expected, it’s alot to learn. I chose pacific college becuase it’s the fastest ADN program in Southern California right now and the cheapest (for a private school). The ADN program is 16months and then if u choose you can go straight for bachelors (an additional year) after you take and pass NCLEX. So you can start working as an RN already while bachelors is all online. That’s what sold me. Everyone is different but I highly suggest looking into pacific. You’ll have great classmates that you bond with and y’all will help each other through it. Good luck!

When I applied the the program cut off for the TEAS was 65%. I applied in November last year. But I know they have increased it to 70% since then so as long as you’re at 70 and up you should be fine. BUT please check with the school to be 100 percent accurate.

Hey so I’m going to be honest 100% here and say the school is still very new. My class is the third cohort (we started March 8th) so the school still has its kinks to work through and at times it can be disorganized. That being said no school or program is perfect, you just have to roll with the punches and be very flexible when it comes to your own schedule. If youre working your job has to be flexible to accomadate. My class is now in our second semester and I personally feel like it’s improved and it’s way smoother compared to first semester. I’m an Lvn so fundamentals was a bit on the boring side but once you hit med-surg it’s great, a lot of work but good. For first semester you’re going to have: 1 lecture day for 4 hours (ours was on zoom on fridays) 1 clinical day for 8hours. Now, clinical days are going to be different for everyone. You get assigned into your clinical groups. My group had our clinicals on Tuesdays and the other groups went either mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. 1 skills/simulation day which also depends on your clinical group. We had skills for 3 weeks in the beginning and the last few weeks of the terms we had simulation days. I know it’s kind of confusing but essentially expect 3 days out of the week. They may also assign you on the weekend too so expect that just in case. I didn’t get any weekend dates so far but my other class mates have. Hope this helps some what

Hey congrats! Just breathe and you’ll be fine trust me. If the director Jeannie brown is interviewing you you are in great hands. She’s amazing and really makes you feel welcome and not intimidating whatsoever. In my interview which was through zoom at the time she asked me the usual why you want to be a nurse, my experience and background. It just felt like a normal conversation rather than a scary first job interview which was really nice. At the end of it you do have to prepare an essay based on a question she gives you and you have 1 hour to turn it in after the interview. Again, this was through zoom for me so she emailed me the essay question and typed it up through word and sent it back. If your interview is in person now I am unsure if they will still do that but just a heads up! My question wasn’t hard at all and don’t think too much, they won’t count against you if you suck at writing essays LOL good luck! When is your expected start date?

Hey I know this post is 2 months old but I’m actually attending the RN program at pacific college. Chaffey probably hasn’t heard of it becuase pacific college’s RN program is new. My class is the third cohort and they do offer the sciences. Pacific college is accredited so in general you shouldn’t have a problem transferring classes but always double check to be sure. I’m an Lvn also and they just started the Lvn to RN bridge. If you’re interested I know it’s a private school but let me tell you it’s WAY cheaper than the other private RN programs right now in California. Also the fastest. 1 year and half to get ADN and then after we take our NCLEX we can go straight into taking our BSN which is 1 year all online. I loved this option becuase I can already start working as an RN before starting the BSN portion. Hope this helps!

Hey there! I honestly do now know how often a new cohort begins. I recommend calling the school and speaking with Nadeem. He’s awesome and very informative With any questions you may have. Our first term is ending next week so we begin term 2 July 5, double check on when the new cohort begins. As far as tuition and program length it depends what route you want to take. If you want to stop at ADN it is under a year and a half. The BSN route will begin after you get your ADN so you can take NCLEX And start working right away. That’s what sold me to the program honestly. It’s the fastest that I’ve seen

Hey girl! we JUST received our schedule in our emails LOL what is your email so we can keep talking so the info isn’t out here.

Heyy LOL so remember when I said they’re pretty last minute? Well that’s all we know as well. Theory on Thursdays and 1 clinical day another day of the week which will depend on what clinical group you get placed in. For example this first term I got placed with my group to go to clinicals on Tuesday but the other groups are going either Monday or Wednesday. So as of right now we don’t know the clinical schedule for next term. To be honest this is the most frustrating part because since anything can be so last minute it messes with your work schedule. I totally get it I work as well. We have brought up these concerns with the schools director so hopefully everything can get sorted but they pretty much just say that they are waiting for approval from the actually clinical sites before giving our schedule out.

Man! Wish I could have waited and saved a bit of money LOL oh well it is what it is! But your welcome our class is cool and there’s more lvns too so it will be fun to meet other lvns! I’m Jen btw ?

Well anyway to answer your question fundamentals for us was lecture day 4 hours on Friday and a 8 hour clinical day (assigned to you so that day is up in the air) plus another 8 hour day skills day on campus (also assigned to you) but that was for 3 weeks. what we were told so far for 2nd semester is we will have an 8 hour skills day (for 3 weeks) a 12 hour clinical day (both of those days won’t be announced to us yet) and a 6 hour lecture day on Thursdays from 12-6. That’s all we know so far. I’m going all the way for BSN BUT we can take NCLEX as soon as we’re done with the ADN portion which will be 7/2022. They give us 1 week of NCLEX prep after that. For the BSN part right after I don’t have an exact start date but I know that program finishes in 2024 but the good thing is that I’ll be able to start working as an RN by the time BSN starts. Thats honestly what sold me so this program, it’s faster than other schools I looked into. Being an Lvn already fundamentals has been easy I’m not going to lie I’m a bit bored because I know this information already it’s pretty much a review but all the professors have been great so far! Good lectures and material. I can’t wait to get to next term though LOL and I won’t lie the school is disorganized when it comes to last minute changes so if you’re working right now you have be VERY flexible because sometimes they will make changes like less than a week in advance which is the annoying thing. Also, we haven’t received our uniforms yet because they have been on back order so just buy any type of burgundy colored scrubs.

Hi I’m also starting in March! I’m doing the BSN route so do you know how it works? Are we able to take the NCLEX after the 1 1/2 year before going into the BSN portion? I was a bit confused on that

Hi! I’m also starting here in march 2021 and trust me I felt the exact same you did. What made me finally just bite the bullet was when I was applying to all these CC’s they said that they were not taking new applicants or cohorts until next year so forget that. I’m not wasting anymore time waiting to apply with no guarantee I’ll be even to start anywhere. Such a waste time is money!

So does this mean if we were waitlisted there is still a chance to be accepted for Spring if the people who were chosen for Spring 2021 don’t accept or go to another program ?
