  1. Hi! I can't offer insight into Vandy's program however I am a current UAB DNP student. I am loving the program so far! Distance learning with recorded lectures and zoom meetings with instructors available weekly. They also offer subspecialty certificates depending on what you're looking for. Like I mentioned, I do not know anything about Vandy's program but I recommend UAB. It's a challenging but rewarding program. With on campus intensives for core NP classes and subspecialty classes. Hope this helps ?
  2. Everyone's is a little different, but mine is Monday 9-11 med surg class Tueaday 645-245 OB Clinical Wednesday 9-11 Med surg class 1-3 OB class Friday 645-245 Med surg Clinical
  3. Hey. It really is up to you. They gave us a folder and copies of the papers they went over except for the handbook. It's not a bad idea to have it because you will probably not remember every single thing they go over. I just took blank paper to write notes on so I could remember. You can also get a lot of info and connect with people on the Aiken Tech SNA 2018-2019 FB page.
  4. I don't have my papers in front of me right now. Are you talking about the physical? If so, yes. If you cant get an appointment until a couple weeks after school starts it's fine. Just dont wait longer than that. You have like 8 or 9 weeks of skills and they need it a couple weeks before clinical, but dont wait that long.
  5. Just a reminder, everything in the packet is stuff to complete for clinical. 1st semester starts off with skills lab before going to clinical so you have the first few weeks of school to get everything completed. They always tell you it's due to get everyone working on it. Dont wait to set things up, but dont stress to have it all done before the first day of class because you have a few weeks after class starts to finish everything.
  6. You're very welcome. I just remember what it was like to have my head spinning when I first started. My schedule was Monday Fund 9-11 Math 130-230 Tuesday Fund 9-11 Pharm 12-2 Wed and Thurs Skills lab 9-1 for like 9 weeks then stop skills lab and go to clinical fridays 645-215
  7. Even if you are up to date on all your shots, clinical sites want you to have certain shots certain ways in certain time frames. It's a pain. I know even if you have 3 Hep b's you still have to have a titer for that one or there is a form you can fill out. Clinical sites were all over in Augusta, North Augusta, and Aiken. I know it's hard not to stress out, but it's going to be like this your whole nursing school career. Just breathe and know they will remind you a few times before all the clinical stuff is really due. It seems like all semesters don't find out their clinical site and schedule until about a week or two before you start going. It's very fast paced and stressful just study and try your best.
  8. Clinical all depends on which section you get put into. You have one teacher for the fundamentals class but for lab and clinical they only allow a teacher 8 students so they are broken up into sections. Mine was from 645 to 215 every Friday. We will not get our clinical schedule for this upcoming semester until we go to school and unfortunately we start clinical right off the bat unlike 1st semester who have like 9 weeks before they start. I had emailed the head of nursing and called and left voicemails and never got an answer, so finally i emailed and called boughton and she was able to get me all the information.
  9. Technically you don't HAVE to have any of them before the first day of school. You will need to have the entire checklist on castlebranch completed before you go to clinicals (maybe the 6th week of school or something like that). It can be expensive. Some students went to Walmart clinic and got them a little cheaper. When you think about having to pay for castlebranch, shots, scrubs, clinical gear, and books it adds up fast! I wish there was a better way to get an estimate of start up cost when you apply but for now I don't think there is. It would help a lot!
  10. Hi guys. I was accepted into the ADN program last semester so I'm going into my second semester this fall. I just came across this thread and wanted to tell ya'll that even though it's hard, in this program you definitely have to have patience! It always seems crazy and hectic. You never know your schedule or clinical rotation until the last minute. I never got an email or packet in the mail and had to get one sent to me the day acceptance letters were due back. There is certainly still time for ya'll to get in, but I do know applying for fall is more competitive. Lots of things are explained in the packet and at orientation. For those that are in, getting your shots and everything lined up is very helpful! Good luck to everyone!!
  11. I have not gotten it yet. They said they would start sending them out this week so hopefully it will be soon!
  12. Nevermind, I just got my acceptance email :) good luck to everyone!!
  13. Did you apply to the ADN program or the LPN program? And what date do you have to confirm your seat by? Sorry for all the questions lol im just wondering if i should call or email the school. I don't want to miss the cut off date if I got in.
  14. Wow. Congrats!! What were your points and GPA? Has anyone else gotten an email yet??
