  1. does the rounding volume for medication administration apply to pediatric the same as adults? Because I've seen in some dosage calculation books it asks that pediatric medication volume be rounded to the hundredths place. I find that hard to do when the only syringe able to measure hundredths of a ml is a 0.5 or 1 ml syringe. If the dose is say 1.48 ml it would require you to use more than 1 syringe to administer that amount
  2. When performing my dosage calculations I do not round anything until the end. When I do round, I round according to the equipment i'm Using in this case it you would use a 3 ml syringe and round to the tenths position since a 3 ml syringe has 0.1 ml markings. I'm not sure why the answer was 2.27 ml. I guess they are expecting you to draw up that dose using multiple syringes
  3. In order to deliver 2.27 ml it would require you use two syringes It makes more sense to round the dose. I was taught round the dose according to the syringe in this case it would call for a 3ml syringe which has 0.1 ml marking so the dose would be round up to 2.3 ml
  4. Ok so what if you have 1.44 ml? We were taught greater than 1 ml round to tenths place and less than 1ml round to the hundredths position. And if the syringe doesn't have 0.01 ml increments how certain are you that it's accurate?
  5. I have another question let's say you have a lovenox vial 300mg/3ml and an order for 1mg/kg injection and the patient weighs 250 lbs would you administer two injections of 0.57ml or one injection of 1.1ml?
  6. This is for homework but I would like to know the answer to both
  7. If you have an order for lovenox injection 1mg per kg q 12 hrs and say this patient weighs 173 lbs available is 80mg/0.8 ml how many ml would you administer? I used dimensional analysis and come up with 0.7863ml rounded to nearest hundredth 0.79ml but with lovenox syringes would you round up to 0.8 ml and administer 80mg? I'm not familiar with the graduations on the syringe. I'm just not sure how to round when it come to lovenox syringes
