  1. I have a question. When I became a nurse in Dallas Texas in 2009 I could not get hired at a nursing home. I did a few walk in and Apply's with no luck and also applied online with no luck. I finally got hired at a staffing agency and then a second agency a year later. I could still not get a call back from any online job postings. So I created a profile at that time on the Texas workforce commission. About 2-3 months later I got a call from a nursing home who hired me. I asked the don why I could not get hired at any nursing homes and she said it was "because I did not have a name in nursing." Is is that true for not having a "name" for not getting hired? The only nurse ive ever known of was nurse rached and flow ntgale. how do you be someone in nursing before you are a nurse other then maybe a celebrity became one. Or maybe the ones who wrote the nursing books. Or big university teacher like Harvard nurse I guess. Has anyone else ever had this told to them? thanks
  2. Could you have contacted the doctor and I would have written in the chart time I took over and if there was a lapse in time you were not brought in at that time

    * I can agree with all of tpapn except not allowing to be able to work from the beginning. I think a dr clearance should be enough and wouldn't mind the rest of it but after reading some of these terribly sad post I feel I am better off with more education in another field. I did learn it's a privilege to be the nurse not an entitlement. Thanks for the replies and helping me answer questions

Just my thoughts i was recently reinstated and booked into tpapn. The problem is I live in Oklahoma and the license is in Texas. However I also have an associate degree in healthcare administration. Since the two are closely connected I think nursing homes are scared to hire me as an assistant. I decided to turn my attention back to a new field of study since I can transfer 75% of my administration degree into an associate in paralegal. There is no licensing in paralegal so it feels like a decent deal in order to have a well paying job and means to place me back in Texas to get started on tpapn. I can also get 25% of life credit toward the degree also and I think nursing would count. Thats is all I can figure into starting up with tpapn and blasting off on their ride. did anyone else ever find different jobs in this process. One facility did offer me an interview at15$ an hour job as a medical technician. But I think the new field may be my best bet. i even looked into anything international with paralegals and they can even get sponsored in the uk. Not lvn just in Ireland with the adn. i find it hard to support a program that does not offer a transition back into nursing other then be ready to pay up. I would rather overcome this with at least a degree paying job. thanks
  8. I'm getting ready to start tpapn and my family lives out of state. Does anyone one know if I test out of state will tpapn be informed. Do they receive the location of the test? sometimes my family needs health care assistance of a trained professional and I travel in to help over see. Thanks

Hi i was just wondering what to expect in being approved to work when I start tpapn. From what I understand I can return with permission from my mental dr and iop class. I want to do an iop spread out over 6 months. Can the iop approve to return to work at any point? Also am I allowed to choose my own iop program. The 6 month one fits my schedule. Any my information is appreciated

I just wanted to know a question about the aa meetings in tpapn. im getting ready to start tpapn and if I attend different aa meetings at different times how will tpapn keep track to my leader in aa. Also I thought you remained anonymous in meetings. Ive sent an email to my case manager but thought I'd ask here in mean time

If I have an enforced suspension in one state will all states suspend me? It's just to complete a refresher course and peer assistance board ordered enforced suspension
