I know I'm late to the conversation, but I am due to graduate Herzing in December (God willing). I'm taking a double clinical now (peds and women's) and working full time. It was very challenging getting preceptors - and I'm well connected in my market. Many students from other programs I've met that had contracts with preceptors were told that their rotations were suddenly closed to students until further notice (because of Covid). This will likely be a problem for many FNP programs, especially if we get a second wave of shutdowns/infections. The instructors have been amazing at Herzing - and I can't say enough about their Director Dr. Julie Penick. She is amazing. It is a lot of work, but doable. I try to do all my readings, I go a little nuts in discussions, but generally I'm able to stay on top of the work. Quizzes are challenging but fair. If I had to do it again I would not take two clinical courses at once. Since I'm done with didactic classes, this was the best choice to graduate in December, but I'm in week 9 of 15 and I'm exhausted. I believe you can make any of these online programs work for you, but the quality of your clinical experiences (I.e. preceptor) and the culture of the program should be your priority concern. Because of Dr. Penick's leadership, Herzing is student focused - if she leaves all bets are off. I hope this viewpoint helps.

I too am about to complete my BSN and am thinking about continuing on with the MSN/FNP. My concern is the difficulty, preceptor placement, and cost. There is a local private school that is much cheaper, but they seem to project very little care about prospective students. Herzing has been hit and miss during the BSN, but generally the staff has been okay while the professors have been amazing. Would love some feedback.
