Nurse externship or CNA?
I'm an accelerated BSN student graduating next May, and wanted to know if anyone had advice (in terms of future employment) on whether I should work as a CNA or apply for a nurse externship? My last two semesters are pretty light in terms of coursework, so I thought it might be a good opportunity to start planning for my future as an RN. Should I apply for CNA jobs at the hospitals that I hope to work at as an RN, or should I apply for a nurse externship next Summer while studying for the NCLEX?

Transferring into another ABSN program?
Does anyone know if transferring while in an ABSN program is possible? Overall I've done well at my current program, but our Med Surg 2 class is terrible (like 6 students failing either the course or out of the program). I have friends at other programs that are much happier with the quality of education and the ability to actually succeed, and wanted to know what the chances are that transferring is even allowed? If not I can just tough it out in my current ABSN program, but I wanted to explore all of my options.

Jefferson Fact 1 May 2019 Center City
I'm so glad someone started a thread on this! I applied in June and haven't heard back yet, I emailed 3 weeks ago to follow up and Jackie said that my application hadn't been reviewed yet and that hopefully I'll hear back soon but I'm getting really nervous! I got into Gwynedd Mercy for January 2019 but Jefferson's my top choice

Explaining Low GPA
Hi there! I totally understand the low GPA aspect, I graduated with a 2.5 BS in Exercise Science although it helped that I had to to take 3 more prerequisites which I did well in. I applied (and got into) Gwynedd Mercy's ABSN program, and had to write a personal statement explaining my GPA and why I wanted to be a nurse. I started with how my alma mater was really expensive so I worked 30 hours a week in addition to being a full-time student, and how that cut into a lot of study time. I followed up with how I learned from my mistakes and that I purposefully took a gap year working 60 hours a week to ensure that I have enough money saved to not have to work while I'm in nursing school and can fully devote myself to my studies. When you explain your depression/the personal problems you faced, brush upon the hardship but REALLY emphasize on what you're doing to get better and stay focused both currently and in the future!
