General arts and Science Health Profile as a path to get into RPN...
I am thinking of doing the GAS at Humber too. Can you tell me how you found the course? was it hard? I am so hoping to get into the BN program as well. Any tips you can give me? Also silly question but I am looking at a laptop for class that I can use for PRe-Health but also in BN program, I am wondering if a Chromebook would be good or should I buy an actual laptop? Any tips, advice would be great.

General arts and Science Health Profile as a path to get into RPN...
I know this thread is old but I am starting advance pre-health (GAS) to get into the RN program and I am wondering when I apply in Feb for the RN program do you have to write the enterance test again or do they just take your marks and if high enough you get a seat? Also dumb question but are you allowed to use a calculator in class?

Opinion on Humber College RN program

Mohawk RPN January 2019
Hello everyone, how are we today? Well, I have been on the phone and computer a lot yesterday and today. The upgrading is going to take me forever. The ACE testing will take me way longer than I wish to for upgrading. I am not one for on-line learning for MATH so I really want in class. Anyway she told me that I should do pre-health as most take you right into the nursing program. So I applied at HUmber and Mohawk for the advanced pre-health. I was accepted within 2 hrs of applying at Humber as it appears my marks from Saturdays testing were ok to get me into that but my CHEM mark was to low to get the 75% needed for acceptance. HUmber is closer to my house then MOhawk so I am going to accept it. the best part is after I am done the 2 term course I can go right into either RPN or RN, the course is advanced so it makes more sense to go righht into RN> Now I cant decide if I should do a 4yr RN program or take the longer way and do the RPN, bridge to RN. I want to be an RN in the end. What do you ladies suggest. I am older (over 40) so I was going to go straight to RN. As I type I am sad I will not be with you ladies. I wish everyone the beset though and thank you for the test tips

HI Aspiring - what is the ACE tests like to see what level you are at? I assume they are pretty tough. Once I have signed up with them and sort out if it will take me two terms or 1 to get the upgrade I need I will be able to write the HOAE..do the upgrading go towards your OSSD? like do you get credit for doing them there as well? Guys, please let me know as much as you can on whats on the exam. I MUST pass this and after Humber I ams so nervous having not been ins chool for 20 years and no OSSD to speak of. lol

Mohawk RPN January 2019
Well, Ladies I have canceled my test this Friday and will write it in a few weeks. I spoke with the school and she told me that as a MS you have to pass the test and either do testing because I don't have the grade 12 Sciences or do upgrading. She told me its best to sign up for the upgrading and make sure it can be completed by January. She said offers are just starting to go out for JAN so I have sometime. Good thing is I get extra 2 weeks of study time. Please keep me posted on whats on this test. I really need to know what is on here for MATH, CHEM and BIO.... Good luck all and I so hope to see everyone is January...

Mohawk RPN January 2019
Humber was pretty quick, I wrote saturday and got emailed tonight to say I was not accepted. I am not sure about the other schools. I applied to humber and mohawk for september and Georgian, mohawk and sheridan for January. I might cancel sheridan as I am not sure I want to go there. I havent been in school in a very long time and so I think if I dont get this time around I will have to do some upgrading and reply next fall. However if thats the case I will apply for RN instead. Oh I hope I get in this time...just not hopeful after today's let down.

Mohawk RPN January 2019
Thanks for this, I am so nervous. I went into Humber's test this past Saturday only to find I studied all the wrong BIO stuff. There was no question on Punnett Squares, Genes or Mitosis. It really sounds like their test is very different. I found it too, was all over the place. I am a PSW and a ton of the BIO questions I was left scratching my head; I had no idea. I wonder are all the tests the same or do they have a pool of questions they pull from at random? What would you say the math has mostly? Good Luck everyone

Where to apply and course route to take
HI everyone, I am hoping to get some feedback, please. I am a PSW from a private college and am interested in the becoming an RN. I need to obtain some high school course in order to even be considered for either RPN or RN; which is fine. I have already started them. I see I would have better luck going into the RPN course and then bridging once complete to the RN program. I also see you can do your RPN in 16 months as long as you do the semesters back to back. Again; also fine.. I am wondering, however; What school should I apply to? I am really looking at Mohawk but I was advised to have a few other places too just in case. So what do you guys think of these schools: Mohawk Humber sheridan I am worried about Sheridan though as the reputation doesn't seem all that great but its the closest to my house. I can take the fast track and finished RPN in 16 months then go right into BSCN and go for 3 more years to be an RN. I just find most schools do not take private career colleges PSW certificates to bridge into RPN. so when I apply do I put both courses on the application at Mohawk and Humber? and see what one I get into? how hard is it to get into? I know Humber grads have no issues getting jobs, anyone knows about Mohawk and Sheridan? any feed back on what I should do course wise and where I should apply would be great.
