UPDATE: If anyone else is under a severe time crunch and in desperate need of a TPP with endorsement, I was able to get my TPP expedited by calling the PA board of nursing and getting transferred to another department (maybe the endorsement office?) who got my application reviewed and permit issued in a day. I had called three times before and not had any luck, but I think if your situation is dire enough, they can get your application reviewed a few days early. Hope this helps someone else!

I called the PA Board of Nursing yesterday and (after on hold for an hour) was told there is a backlog causing Endorsement applications to take up to 6 months and Temporary Practice Permit application 5-6 weeks. I'm really nervous since I'm supposed to start my first nursing job on August 12th and wasn't able to apply for Endorsement with TPP until July 10th! Has anyone recently had any luck with getting a Temporary Practice Permit? Does anyone know of a way to speed up the process?

Hey, congrats! I was a CHOP Extern last summer and was also coming from outside Philly. I ended up finding a summer sublet on Facebook from the page "Philadelphia - Housing, Apartments, Rooms, Sublets, Roommates." It worked out really well! I recommend trying to get something walking distance to the hospital, I was living near 40th and Chestnut and it was totally walkable. You can also let the Extern Coordinator know that you need housing and she can help you out with living in the UPenn dorms if that is what you prefer. Good luck and have fun!
