  1. They were all in person. At least I did not see any Zoom options. When I got my confirmation email, they included local hotel information.
  2. I got an interview invite today. I submitted my application January 1, but my transcripts were not finalized until January 12. Interviews were available April 29-Early May.
  3. In my ICU, our charge nurse has typically not had a patient assignment. They will take an assignment if absolutely necessary, but that has been the exception, not the rule. Our hospital is now changing policy, and saying the charge will be taking a patient assignment. They tell us this is the norm in most places. How are things done in your ICU?
  4. If your unit takes care of patients who are organ donors, do you do anything special for the families? I want to start some kind of program at our hospital to help care for our donor families, but I would like ideas first. I would like it to be something unique and special. Perhaps something handmade, with a special card. We end up caring for a donor patient about once every 1-2 months in our unit, if that helps. Thank you you so much!
  5. I work in a CVICU. We have a lot of standing orders. They include drawing labs, ABGs, ordering chest x-rays, initiating temporary pacemakers, placing orders for certain meds (insulin drips, amino drips etc) and more. However, it is still expected that results and changes in condition be reported to providers. Some of these standing orders include notifying the physician after 7am if they are initiated. This way nurses are covered, and physicians are generally happy.
  6. Many doctors at my facility use dictation software to write their notes. While some will proof read, many do not. Sometimes the mistakes are quite comical. I was reading the admission history and physical for one of my patients. It stated "patient came to ED complaining of shortness." This was the first time I had heard of height being an emergency condition! In the same note, it said, "Past medical history: unable to attain as patient is amputated." Lol! The patient was intubated.
