  1. Hello MrChicagoRN I am a Registered Psychiatric Nurse but have completed my degree abroad. From clinical placements and additional work as a psych tech, I will have about 9 years experience. I will be returning home to Chicago in the near future and plan to apply as a MHW or MHT while pursuing further education in order to apply for IL licensure. Any suggestions for this route into the mental health field in Chicago? Would greatly appreciate your advice.
  2. Hi alxrdrgz Any recommendations for the non nursing healthcare positions in addition to Rush in Chicago? I am currently in nursing school and would specifically be looking for psych but am open to all possibilities. Would appreciate any advice.
  3. Hi beezarn I know this is an old thread but are you still working at Presence in Chicago? I am planning on applying there and wondering if you could possibly answer a few general questions please. Thanks.
  4. I'm in the same situation here in Ireland. Also due to graduate Sep 19'. I've done a lot of research into this and would be happy to share what I know with you. It's complicated but if you're determined and start planning now I do believe it's possible. However, it will involve investing further education and time but in the end well worth it. There's probably too much to explain here so if you would like to message me or correspond via email let me know. Best wishes.
  5. Have any foreign nurses gone through the CGFNS process and the IDPFR-education is comparable but missing theory/clinical components? I am an Irish psychiatric nurse and understand that I will be missing Med/Surg, Peds, Obs. Is it pretty straightforward to take those classes at the approved colleges and then be eligible to sit the NCLEX? I am trying to plan this well ahead so any advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
