CU Denver Traditional Program 2022
I am a current student in this program and the best advice I could give you is to be your best professional self! Really think about the questions we ask you. The group interview situation freaks a lot of people out but I find that many students relax a little in the presence of their peers! There will be many value-based questions and we are just looking for honest & integral answers. Draw on your experiences if you have any. Take time to think about your answers and ALWAYS ask for the question to be repeated if you forget (this is a nerve-wracking experience so we understand and are happy to repeat it!). Good luck, you will do a phenomenal job!

Senior Practicum in Operating Room
I am graduating nursing school in 5 months and all that I have left is to complete my senior practicum and an online Community Health class. It's a very exciting & nerve-wracking time! I was recently approved to complete my senior practicum in the operating room. I actually already work for this particular OR as a support tech. I also stayed PRN at my CNA job of 3 years just to keep my bedside skills fresh in case the OR didn't work out. I am very fortunate to have been selected by the team that hired me as they have been so extremely supportive in furthering my experience & education in the OR. My clinical educator is the same person that organized my new hire orientation so we know each other pretty well. Now that context is out of the way, I was hoping to hear some tips to be most successful in my senior practicum. I rarely see practicum students at work, mostly just PONIs (PreOperative Nursing Interns), so I am not sure what they do that would be different than what the PONIs do. My preceptor is not yet confirmed, but will likely be one of the RNs I work with daily. How can I be most effective as a student in this practicum experience? What can I do to make a further/lasting impression on this team to hopefully be hired on as an RN someday? And was it a good idea to accept my practicum here, knowing the NCLEX will mostly test me on bedside-related clinical skills that are not directly pertinent to OR nursing? TIA for your advice!

Loma Linda Nursing Fall 2018
Are you guys pursuing LLU BSN for your second bachelor's? Or did you just take pre-requisite courses and apply right away?

volunteering for nursing application
I do service trips as well! That's awesome to hear. I was wondering; during your 4 years in college, did you take summer classes to complete your pre-requisites before getting in to your nursing program? Or did you have those off for trips and complete your courses during the regular semester?

Should I get a bachelor's before BSN?
My institution works closely with UCHealth University Hospital to prepare students for the nursing program there. So no, there isn't a declared nursing program but the pre-requisite plan still leads directly to one. I made the decision to stay here due to an impending family concern. Moving forward, these two are my options. I wish they weren't 'unnecessarily complicated', but this is what I'm given. Unfortunately, the four year option isn't there for me anymore.

Should I get a bachelor's before BSN?
Hi everyone! I am very new to this site and am loving the responses from this community... so now I need a bit of help for a big decision. I am currently a first-year student. At my university, I am an Undeclared Pre-Nursing student. Nursing isn't technically a major here because CU Denver doesn't have a BSN program. However, it does work with students to get accepted into CU Anschutz, which is my goal. Initially, I thought I would get my BSN in four years (just like everyone else in my high school graduation class that went to different colleges), but the pre-requisites take so long that it's just not possible. My two options are; take three years to do my pre-requisites, get accepted to the 2 year traditional BSN program OR take 4 years to finish a bachelor's in whatever field (along with my pre-requisites) and apply to the 1 year accelerate BSN program. What should I do? Eventually, I will have to bulk up on upper division science courses which I vow not to let disrupt my GPA. Should I look into transferring and giving up my dream of CU Anschutz? The timing of it all is messing with me.
