Cerritos college nursing fall 2018
ECC was actually my first choice, but I live in Anaheim so I tried my luck with Cerritos, it's so much closer. I started off with 47 pts and got invited to sit for the TEAS. I got an 86% on the TEAS so I ended up with 67 points total and got in. I applied to the Compton campus, I really like it there and it's closer to me than the Torrance campus. I've seen 65pts get accepted to both campus' too. I don't know what the lowest score accepted is though. You should try! It seems like a good program, I've talked to a lot of people in the Compton campus and they really like it, they do say it's pretty difficult and time consuming, but what RN program isn't? I really didn't think I would get a call back to take the TEAS, I felt my grades were not competitive enough, but I have a lot of extra pts, like AA, patient volunteer hours, work while attending college, bilingual...you get points for all those things, which really help you. So definitely give it a go!

:drowning:Nothing so far..to those who are in, congrats!! Those that didn't make it, don't quit! The struggle never stops, my friend has her BSN and is currently looking for a job, it's rejection left and right, but she'll land something soon! Perseverance is key! Lotteries can be frustrating. Have you guys tried point-system based programs? Like El Camino College?

El Camino Nursing Program Fall 2018
Hi! Sure! I used ATI study manual (as a study guide), mometrix book, khan academy videos (for science), Brandon Craft videos (for math). So for reading make sure you understand what they are asking when asking for main idea, supporting detail, conclusion, inference, etc. I love to read and feel I have good comprehension skills but I kept getting a lot of these wrong on my practice tests. Math: it's pretty basic algebra and some common/basic geometry (rec, triangle, circle) everything is fair play in the exam. Make sure you understand proportions and are able to convert between the metric system (Kilo, deca,...milli). Science: is probably the most challenging for people, it was the easiest for me only because I studied each 11 systems, some basic chem (mometrix science video on youtube) and some life science. I did skim over the reproductive and urinary and those were the ones that stumped me on the test . English was the most challenging for me, I read the the English portion on the mometrix book and did some problems, it improved my score tremendously. It's mostly the subject-verb agreement, understanding the proper use of a comma, semicolon, which seems easy, but simply being literate is not enough. If you want to go the extra mile, I recommend printing out some high school worksheets and getting some practice. I was definitely more nervous than I should have been, I took it at Compton College and the proctor was so awesome, she understood that we were all nervous. I left everything in my car, just took my id and two number two pencils, but there were some girls that had purses with them and had to leave them on the side of the room. Make sure you get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast. I slept only 2-ish hours! I just couldn't sleep and started getting a headache. Also, if you can, I definitely recommend taking the practice tests on the ATI website, they really help familiarize you with the content of the test. There's also someone that posted on here who scored a 97.3, he lists the subjects he remembered from the test, I printed that out and used it as a checklist. I just wish I would have started studying much sooner than I did :/. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, ask away! :)

Thanks for the reply! I'm really nervous too! The wait is a killer. I know that LA Harbor and LACC are both lottery, not too sure abut LACC, but if I remember correctly they also use a lottery system for selection.
