New Grad considering quitting nursing
Jacob, I wanted to thank you for coming back and posting a follow up. We share the same first name LOL - and I am also a PCU/Stepdown nurse with about 5 months of experience at this point. I have felt mostly dread and anxiety with my job and have been HEAVILY considering quitting and looking elsewhere or leaving nursing altogether to feed my entrepreneurial drive. I have even received awards and some recognition by my management team already but I just don't feel happy with my job and lifestyle after becoming a nurse. When I was in school and before that, I had stress, but it was different and more manageable - I worked out often and got to control my schedule much easier because I owned my own small business. Transitioning into nursing full time has been a shell shock to my life and I find myself constantly stressed and anxious outside of work. Part of me wants to keep this job for the year because that is what everyone says to do, and it will open up more doors for me in nursing - but another part of me just wants to leave and find myself and trust my gut feeling that I can succeed working for myself. Do you feel like staying for the year was worth it to you, even if you are considering other options now?

Cabrillo College Fall 2018
Yeah I've heard great things about Cabrillo too, and feel really lucky to have gotten a seat. It's a very well respected program in the Bay Area so that's a great plus. So you'll find out from Hartnell by the end of March if you get in there too? I also applied to SFCC and I'll find out within two weeks or so by mail if I got into that program as well. I'm pretty set on Cabrillo though, because I know it's a great school with a great reputation.

Cabrillo College Fall 2018
Yes I totally understand how you feel. I've gone through so much these last 2 years to get to this point and I'm very proud to get to this point and have finally been accepted. I have taken the TEAS already and scored an 88% - I didn't feel that it was too difficult, but def had to reach into the high school English archives to remember some grammar terms and rules! Lol I'm not too familiar with Cabrillo's program but I've read as much as I can on their website about what we need to do next. That's cool you went to Hartnell for your prerequisites, I grew up and went to high school in Salinas so I know people who went there as well. I was thinking of applying to that program but Cabrillo is closer to me since I live in San Jose..

Cabrillo College Nursing Program Fall 2017
Hey Rachel, I also was just accepted for the Fall 2018 start. Hoping to get some ideas of how the process will go over the summer and keeping our deadlines in mind. Maybe we should start a new thread and see who else might be on here in our class?
