International nursing students in the US
Hi, I am aware that they are presently finished with the Green card quota. Does this also mean that we have lost our 'Schedule A' category. Do we need to go through the DOL certification process?

International nursing students in the US
Hi all out there, I graduated with a BSN and now am faced with the real challenge of finding a job. I have called and applied to several places from the north to the east but am really getting nowhere. I run into a brick wall:eek: as soon as I mention to them that i will be needing sponsorship post-OPT. Is there something wrong with the approach I am taking or is the "Demand for nurses" really not true. I hate the fact that, I am the only Intl. student graduating from nursing school this semester and my advisors have no knowledge on what I can do(Actually I am the first from my country:D ). I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice, ideas or suggestions on getting a job. Thanx a bunch!

Hi everyone, Hooray...I graduate in 2 weeks with a BSN! I have already applied for the OPT and should be receiving it shortly. Now, based on what I have read in this thread I am of the idea that this is what i have to do. 1. I need to set up a date for my NCLEX (I do not have to wait for my transcripts) 2. I apply for a license post NCLEX.(and a job:icon_roll) 3. I get in touch with CGFNS and apply for the VisaScreen. 4. With the VisaScreen and a job in hand I can apply for the Green Card (considering I have employers help). Please let me know if these are the right steps. Any advice will be highly appreciated. BTW anyone know of hospitals in Denver, Boulder area that have hired US educated foreign nurses? Thanks Ya'll :thankya:.

Thanks Suzanne! The hospital said they would talk to an immigration specialist and get back with me.

Hi Suzanne or anyone else, I am in talks with a hospital about working for them. Things look optimistic but the recruiter is not very familiar with the process of hiring a foreign nurse. They are aware that I graduated from a US nursing school. What they really want to know is how far they are going to be involved in my Green card process. I am quite unsure myself and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea on how much involvement the hospital would be looking at?

Hi Suzanne, Thanks for the welcome! I am about to graduate at the end of July and am counting the days. My friends tell me that I need to go ahead and apply for my temporary Alabama license 2 weeks before I graduate. But I am thinking will I as a foreign student be allowed to work on a temporary license? Anything you know about temp. licenses? Thanks. :monkeydance:

Hi Suzanne, I am new to this site but have been following this thread for a while. I appreciate the time and effort you have been putting into this. There is no one at my university who knows what a foreign nursing student has to do when graduating nursing school. I probably would be stranded if not for your postings. Thank you! :thankya:
