BSN vs ADN + Bachelors
Hi I have a bachelors in biochemistry and wanted to get my ADN. My question is will I be as competitive as someone with a BSN? And will magnet hospitals take my non nursing bachelors? Or should I look into BSN programs while I get my ADN. Thanks!

130k Student debt for Entry MSN worth it?
Thank you all. I've talked to many people and the only person that thinks this ISN'T a lot of debt is my mom, who is a nurse lol. I think she just wants me to start my career as I am nearing 30. I am in the process of seeing how I drop my seat, because $130,000 is way too much. This is one of the reasons why I didn't want to follow through with my initial plans to go MD. The new grad article helped me make my decision as well. If I am stressed right now about the loans, which I haven't even taken out, I KNOW I will be stressed while working, and that just isn't safe.

Have negligible debt from undergrad. This is just tuition + living expenses over the next 3 years.

130k Student debt for Entry MSN worth it?
I would like to practice one day and this would put me a year of schooling away from that, but I also think I would be happy being an ED nurse going through community college and taking an online bachelors for MUCH less. I am stressing about this terribly to the point of considering dropping my seat before the quarter starts. I know there are many nurses out there with similar amounts of debt. How did you find peace with 100k+ debt!? Thanks

@somedayfnp One of the the nurses that recommended me said she didn't have trouble. Hired to the ED no problem. But I think it'll come down to the root of what all nurses that aren't getting jobs is... pickiness.

Western University MSN-E 2018
Just put my deposit in. Looking forward to meeting you all in the fall. Was accepted through the EAOD and I am happy to say it was the least stressful "interview" I've ever been to. School seems like it'll be fun. Only gripe is the cost of the program. Pile on the debt! Already planning on working 8 days a week when I get my license.

APU ELM Fall 2018
That's why I chose this over PA. I got an interview at a PA school that got over 2500 applicants for ~50 spots. That's 2%! Just to get an interview was like 12%, and I was happy for that, but I will never again go through that type of "interview." Dreadful. APU interview and application process was cake compared to that and for that I will reapply.

APU ELM Fall 2018
I would like to say hello to everyone as I've been checking this over the past couple of weeks and it's been helpful. Unfortunately I received a rejection letter today for the IE campus in fall 2018 and I am a bit shocked. I know she said there were only about 20 spots, but I thought I was very competitive. I will reapply for the summer, if I'm not too late for the spring. My info: BS Biochem (was pre-med) with an overall of over 3.59. I say over because I haven't calculated in all the prereqs I took after I graduated. I had all A's in my prereqs except I think I had a B in one of them. I only need that darn research methods class 2 years as EMT with 1 in the field and 1 in the emergency dept at a level 1 trauma center. Great recs 200+ hours volunteering in research, ED, and student orgs I am a male (lol i know this sounds wrong, but you know the demos of nursing) The interview went really well imo, Beverly said she really liked everything I had to offer and said I would be successful in the program. I AM CONFUSED! Where can I improve now??? The letter doesn't even say please reapply or anything like that. Thinking about every possible error I could have made I found that maybe my letter to the dean and my end goal answer during the interview could have done it. The website was quite confusing as to if the program offered the FNP as part of it instead of just a MSN-RN, so I wrote what I would do with a MSN only and during the interview I didn't stress I wanted to be an FNP, because again, I didn't really know that that was the progams purpose. I know! I should have researched it better Thanks for reading and letting me vent. Any responses are appreciated.
