My unit just made their deployments no longer voluntary, anyone that’s qualified is now going. You don’t get your bonus until you’re fully qualified. Flight lag is exactly that, you have to be flying, not just at drill weekend. You have the 12 drills a year, 15 AT days a year you have to use. All of that probably won’t keep you flying, as not everyone can fly every drill weekend. There’s not flights every weekend and there’s a limit to the number of people who can go. Most flights are on the weekends that aren’t drill as well, so you spend a lot of weekends there.

There’s really no planning with the military, your time away from home can be all over the place. I commissioned January of this year, waited and waited to go to COT so I could go to flight school. I got two weeks notice of having to be in Alabama for 8 weeks this month. If you are a flyer it is way more than just one weekend a month.

Oh and dental X-rays and exam. Forgot about that.

I just had this done at Wright-Patterson. I had pretty extensive blood work, about 12 tubes. Beyond your normal stuff there was a lot for communicable disease, blood type and several others I can't remeber. Chest X-ray. EKG. Full vision exam including having your pupils dilated. Hearing exam was the same as MEPS. Measure your functional sit and reach. I think the urine was just a UA and Preg. They didn't watch me pee so I'm assuming it wasn't a drug screen. After all that is done I sat with the flight surgeon for an exam, he let me know most of my results and if he thought there was anything they would flag.

That's fast. Just had my flight physical 2 weeks ago. Hoping for approval by the end of the year.

I've been at this since December 2017. Went to MEPS beginning of August and just had my flight physical last weekend. My interview is set up for 9 Sept. anyone have any experience on how long it's been taking to get your physical approved? My recruiter told me between 3 months and a year. I'm just wondering if its realistic to think I'd be taking my oath by March or April of next year?

Just got off of the phone with my recruiter trying to find out some sort of a timeline. This is what he gave me: Initial application and paperwork. MEPS Unit interview Flight physical This is specifically for flight nurse in the Reserves. He also said there is no board. Once all these steps are completed you take your oath.

Not NTP, applying for 46f with 3 years Trauma exp and my CCRN, CEN, TNS, TNCC.

So if I'm applying for Reserves, just going to MEPS in a couple weeks I should plan on a board sometime next spring or summer?

Reserves here. I finally got my MEPS date. I don't anticipate my packet being ready for a board this year honestly. Just happy the process is finally moving along. I first started speaking with a recruiter last December.

I'm applying for 46f (Reserves). Its just an incredibly slowwwwwwwww process. I'm abkut 8 hours away from the base I will be working out of, so if I do get commissioned I plan on moving closer to there and taking a perm job closer, I'm currently just doing travel assignments. Just trying to plan out my next year of where I'm going to be living!

Does anyone know how often the boards meet? I just finally submitted official paperwork to my recruiter a few weeks ago, waiting on a MEPS date. I know I probably won't be submitted to a board until next year, just wondering how often they meet?

He's been good about answering me via text I've found out, and he did outline the steps for me. I'm working as a travel nurse right now and I'm planning on taking a permanent job close to the base near me if/when I'm able to commission. It's just a hurry up and wait game!

How often is appropriate to harass my recruiter? I turned in my initial documents 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything since, other than he got them. I get he's overwhelmed but I also don't want to annoy him too much.

I've had trouble getting my recruiter to respond to me. He had me send in some initial documents like as birth Certificate, DL, desire statement, all sent in 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back from him yet other than that he got everything. How often should I be contacting him, aka harassing him about what needs to happen next??

Will I have to take the AFOQT to commission in?

I just started the process with a recruiter for flight nurse. But I'm curious about the CCATT, as that is what my background is and what I'm wanting to do. I've read the qualifications and I have everything they're asking for. Does Scott AFB in IL have a CCATT? And is that something you can commission into directly or do you go in as a flight nurse and then try and complete the school for the CCATT?

I'm just starting talking to recruiters about commissioning in, I have a BSN and 3 years experience working ER in a level one trauma center. Can anyone explain to me the difference/benefits of Army Reserve Vs National Guard? I'm in IL and only interested in Reserves. Thanks!

I'll be in LA until June. Then I'll be back in the Midwest for the summer before heading to Florida for next winter. I can of course change any of these plans, and I am more than willing too for the right opportunities. But I have to get this recruiter to answer me first.

My residence is in IL but I'm a travel nurse so I'm currently in LA. The recruiter they gave me is in Ohio. I asked if I should maybe try speaking with someone in LA and they said just stick with the Ohio recruiter. Still trying to contact him and haven't heard anything yet! Anyone think I should try seeing a recruiter in LA so I can speak with them in person??

I'm havjng a hard time getting my recruiter to respond to me. Last I heard from his was 12/15 when he said he was reviewing my resume and he would be back with me next week. Should I keep bugging him until he answers me? Look for a different recruiter?
