I took my last final today, officially completing my first semester in my BSN program I managed 2 A's in Health Assessment and Process/Pharmacology. And a B+ in Fundamentals (Kind of bombed my final lol) But I survived! Nursing school is no joke lol and its only the beginning Oh well, off to med-surg haha

I did end up getting an acceptance letter today. However, I'm almost done with my first semester in another program.

Thanks everyone! After a few weeks in, I'm feeling a little better. Still overwhelmed though lol. I like my clinical and labs for the most part. And I got a 92 on my first fundamentals exam! There's still so much to do, but I'm adjusting.

Thank you for all your insights. Becoming a nursing student has been a big shock for me. But I've doing my readings, watching videos, and even purchased a cheap sphygmomanometer so I can practice at home. I'm going to bunker down and channel my frustration into studying and understanding all of these new concepts. Good thing we have Monday off because I have like 20 chapters to read lol

Hi all :) Today was my first official day as a nursing student. (whoo-hoo) Despite my lecture room being absolutely freezing-- it wasn't that bad. We mainly went over the course and spent the last 15 minutes going through the power points. In my head, I was thinking that it was going to be a pretty lax day then. Later that day I had lab and finally got to wear my uniform (which I was a little too excited about.) Lab was way different. We went straight into skills with little direction. We watched part of a video and then it broke down lol. We had to take blood pressures and I had left my stethoscope at home! Other people were nailing the skills so much faster than myself and I had no clue what I was doing wrong. Thankfully, my instructor came over and did it with me--but I just felt so slow. Needless to say, I have a lot of practicing to do. I already feel behind in lab. Anywho, if anyone has had their first day already--how did it go?

I took fundamentals and orgo, not bio. In my experience, Organic was way easier. It still required a lot more studying, but the content was easier to grasp. Naming, properties, reactions, shapes. Simple. I got an A. In fundamentals, there was so much math, mols, electo-negativity and flipping back to the periodic table. I barely managed to score a B. For some people, its the other way around.

You're right. I'm about to overload myself trying to get ahead lol.

I had to do the SPARC thing like 10 times before I could get it to print. I had to use chrome on a computer, let every slide play through, and clicked every single possible link. Start from the beginning and try again. And make sure you do every quiz! As for Castlebranch, I have the drug test done. Labcorp is pretty efficient. Most of us aren't doing the CPR training until after next week. Have you order the uniform yet? I takes awhile I've heard. I'd order it now. They said the shirt runs big.

Oh! Definitely get in contact with them asap. There's so much to get done in under a month. We're all stressed lol.

Hi. I am starting my nursing classes in about a month (ah!) and was wondering if anyone has used simplenursing to help them. I've seen some posts from a few years ago on here. Some were good, some were not. I just want to know if its worth the time (and money) to purchase the subscription. I used the free videos while doing my prerequisites and found them helpful but who's how it will be for nursing courses. If not, please suggest any other sites that could help. I know C's get degrees but I still wanna aim for those A's lol Thanks!

It's great! I was taking Organic Chem during so that monopolized my time. But I just broke it down by section. One week for only math, then science, then verbal. Dont jump around. And then at the end I took the mock exams. I ended up scoring in the 91st percentile and got accepted last week! Word of advice, although I am a strong english student that was my lowest scoring section. That would be your first part of the test. It will bore you. There is a lot of reading. Be aware lol.

The "Review Guide for RN Pre-Entrance Exam" (red book) is great. I only had about 3 weeks to study and I managed to get 134. (My school only needed 103) I got mine from Amazon and it came with the CD which had hundreds of questions, a timer, and mock exams.

@RiFig_17 Oh that's good to know. I had no idea what they were going to be like. I'm not sure if I want to stay at my job. I did just get certified for phlebotomy and ekg but I'm not sure if I want to switch working environments right before school starts. I know the job I have (retail) would be flexible with my schooling. But also, landing a job in a hospital would be more beneficial for me in the long run, I think. Decisions decisions.

Thanks so much. I've never recorded a professor before. But I think now is the time to start. There's so much to learn. I'm in my early twenties, no kids, at home with only a part time job so I don't have an excuse to mess this up lol. Also, how are clinicals? We don't have orientation until next week and I'm not sure what that details. When I was looking at classes it said it was 6 hrs a week.

I'm so happy to share that I finally got into my nursing program! I had my doubts because I got a C- in AP1 and this is a CUNY school (so more competitive). But thank God they found a space for me!

Ugh, they just sent out an email a few days ago. We have to wait another week before they mail out the decisions. Dx At least I finished my phlebotomy/ekg classes
