  1. @GG1104 I'm going to be completely honest. My stats were not the best. I was told by several other applicants, including my enrollment counselor that the program I was applying for was very competitive and to aim for an 80% or higher. I disagree with that. My science GPA was a bare minimum (2.57) and I retook the TEAS, scored a 60 the first time and a 70 the next. I was convinced I would not get in with those stats but I did. Don't let others scores deter you from applying. As for clinical sites and priority I'm not quite sure about that. I know in Cali there is priority but SLC I don't know. I work for an HCA affiliate, had a pretty good letter of recommendation, and intent.
  2. I recently got accepted to WGU's prelicensure program! I'm excited and terrified at the same time. I was hoping to post on here and reach out to anyone else who has been accepted for this cohort. For those who are currently enrolled, what is it like? I would like to hear about your experience so far. Thanks!
  3. Thank you so much! Definitely reviewing BLS after that. It was very scary but you're right. Hospital is different from your own home. At least IF there is ever a next time (super hope there will never be one) I will be prepared and hopefully calm. :)
  4. Something is really bothering me and I don't know if I'm meant to be a nurse anymore. Last night my husband choked on a chicken bone. Instead of getting into help him mode like I do with my patients. I panicked hard core and didn't know what to do. I just grabbed my phone to call 911. He was coughing up blood and turning red in the face. I just have this image of him looking at me and needing help and I'm just standing there frozen. He was able to cough it up and I did nothing but panic. I feel so incredibly guilty about it and I'm seriously questioning my ability to become a nurse. I've worked in healthcare for almost two years and I've seen patients crash, pass away, etc. But when it comes to my husband I turn into this crybaby and choke up. Is this normal for other people in healthcare? Does this mean I shouldn't be a nurse?
  5. Holy toledo. Thank you for responding so quickly. This school seems to have everything covered!
  6. @nursingstudentkay does WGU offer hands on practice and simulated scenarios? I'm having a hard time getting a hold of my enrollment counselor so I'm probably going to call up there to talk to someone tomorrow. Did you like the physiology class? Thanks for responding!
  7. Did you do any of the prereqs through Straighter line? I'm looking into it but I'm a little iffy on whether or not it's legit. Thanks for commenting!
  8. Sorry I probably should have mentioned that before! I live in Utah.
  9. Hello! I am a pre-nursing student looking at a few options for school. I'm a little familiar with WGU through friends. I've read mostly good things about there RN to BSN and BSN to MSN programs. Although this is the first time I've seen an online pre-licensure option. I've done quiet a bit of research, (I've checked their accreditation, consumer affairs, etc and all checked out well) but I would like some opinions from fellow medical field workers. The hospital I work at (it's an HCA facility) supports WGU and offers a 10% discount on tuition if you go there. Clinicals are also completed at a few HCA facilities as well. I feel like this would be a good option for me since I work full time. Any thoughts? Thank you
