LTC To ER
Thank you so much for your responce. Just an update..the 6 weeks orientation was actually comprised of mostly in class preparation with just a few days of floor orientation. I brought these concerns up to management and i was given a few more shifts. Although i am appreciative, i cant help but still be apprehensive and think this isnt enough time. In responce to your concerns regarding my previous post, I just want to say thank you for opening my eyes to the reality that just because a patient seems stable doesnt mean they are, and that i have to refrain from focusing on the tasks at hand as much. Again thank you so much for your honest and helpful responce!

LTC To ER
Hello all, i need some advixe, ive recentky been hired at a small emeeg department. I have 1.5 urs of long term care experience and a few months experience in critical care while i was in school. My orientation is almost up (1.5 months) And im feeling apprehensive. I think i can handle a full patient load if everyone is stable and admitted and i judt have to give meds, do procedures, ecgs, ivs etc. But i dont feel confident that i would be able to manage someone thats not doing well. Im not surr if this is new department jitters or if i really should be nervous. Also i doesnt help that the more senior nurses openly discuss to one another infront of us new nurses that we shouldnt be there as we aee not experienced enough. Apart of my cant hrlp but think they are right. So what do you think guys, stil in emerg and tough it out or try and ask to see if i can get some floor experience?

Best ICU RN Certificate Programs-Ontario
Hello All, First off, thank you in advance for responding :) I am just wondering if anyone on this forum has completed or is in the process of completing an ICU RN certificate either at Humber College, George Brown College, Centennial College or Durham College (online certificate program). These are my top 4 choices but i cannot decide which one is better. Honestly, cost is not the greatest factor for me, I am mostly concerned with which program provides the best learning content, best learning opportunities and the best clinical practicums. Any opinions on any of the schools listed above is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much everyone!!! :)

Starting Homecare Agency in Ontario
Hello all, Im thinking of starting a homecare agency focusing on just employing health care aides/personal support workers. I was wondering if anyone knows where i can purchase or view documents or forms needed for this type of business venture. For example forms for employee documentation, forms for training employees, home care assessment forms etc. I have been trying to create these forms myself but it has been very difficult not having anything to go off of. I have seen some people on this forum mention ProvidersWeb - Care facility RCFE compliance help assisted living business plans, free forms nursing procedure checklists report RCFE ALF RCF ....is this a reliable website? ...also are there any other canadian based websites/companies available that provide inform like this? ..If not, american suggestions? Thank you so much everyone :)

critical care certificate vs CORN2
Hello all, I just accepted a position in the ICU (a program for new grads, where there is 3 months of training). During the interview it was stated that they have a partnership with a college for nurses to complete their critical care certificate. I didn't get anymore information as it was an interview and i didn't want to pry. Anyhow, my question is, do you think i should sign up for a critical care certificate while just starting to work this new ICU job or wait a while? or do you think i should work while completing CORN2? ..if i complete the certificate, do i even need to take CORN2 separately? .. As you can tell im very confused as too my next steps, im not sure if i should just focus on work or go to work plus sign up for the certificate or just do some couses. I dont want to be too eager and end up losing money in the long run but im also very ambitious Also, should i pay for ACLS myself or do you think they will later on..maybe 6 months into employment? any advise would be great! Thank you all.
