I picked NYU for the connections/clinical sites. Also because my job is paying 75% so might as well. I also always wanted to go there but was unable to afford it in undergrad. Pace was a close second for me if NYU didn't work out.

Hi! I have 6.5 years experience and have worked in medsurg, telemetry and stepdown.

I attended their masters info session recently and they said the first year with core classes is online and the next year will be hybrid.

It's a last resort, as per my friend who is in his last year in the program they encourage you to develop connections to find your own first. But if you really can't set it up then they will step in. Honestly this was the biggest thing for me that made me go with NYU because I don't want the head ache of setting up clinicals plus work plus coursework.

Congrats! I wonder if they'll have an accepted students day for all the graduate programs? Congrats! We probably will have the same core classes!

I hope you hear back soon! Most likely I will go to NYU, my friend is in the program at the moment so I'm just getting some advice before I make my final decision.

No interview! I had sent them a follow up email yesterday asking about decisions and I think that really accelerated the decision. My friend didn't get any notification yet and we submitted the same time.

So the current student I spoke to said that in addition to clinical , studying and a full time job to expect to have no social life. The first year with classes and no clinicals is totally manageable but once clinicals start it will eat up all of your time. I already mentally prepared to be in hermit mode haha.

I'm not sure if they hold interviews. My friend who got in last year did not have an interview for admission into the AGACNP program.

I emailed them and they said applications still under review.

That's going to be different for every individual since it'll go by your preceptor / clinical site. 190 hours in 4 months comes out to be around four 12 hour shifts per month or six 8 hour shifts per month.

One of my friends connected me with her friend who is currently going through the program in his clinical year. I asked a few questions which I'm happy to post here. How intense is the workload week to week? Is the program more lecture based or hands on? Does the school find clinical placements or do students have to secure their own? What types of clinical settings have you rotated through (ICU, ED, inpatient units)? How many hours per week do you typically spend studying or in clinical? Also if you got into any other program what made you pick Pace? Does the school help with job placement or networking? I think it depends on what your definition of 'intense' is. You start the program your mandatory classes (typically 2 classes a month and rest is online) theory, foundation, health assessment, and pathophysiology type classes. Which I spent maybe 1 or 2 days a week to complete discussion boards and papers. That first year is just all writing and research until you get to patho and pharm where you actually have to study. I am in my clinical year and it is busy. You have to complete 190 hours in 4 months on top of your full-time job so it can be stressful but definitely possible. During your clinical year you will do class almost every week with 2-3 days clinical and your full time job. The school is help you find placement if you absolutely need it but I recommend networking with the NPs or attending at where you work. I work MICU and I am not allowed to do my own unit so I settled for Step-Down following a NP just to get the feel for how to become a provider. Next I will be MICU Triage so rapids, critical care consults and new admits. I applied to Wagner's FNP but after getting accepted I didn't have a passion for pediatrics so I just stuck with AGACNP. You will be using your clinical to guide your job placement and networking. Pace itself will not help you get a job but the professor can help guide you to become more marketable.

I paid the deposit for Pace. But I will have to seriously consider both if I also get into NYU as well.

I heard back from Pace yesterday and was accepted. I'm still waiting on NYU!
