  1. Ugh, that puts you in a tough spot then. I would talk to your provider and see what they think. I am lucky my facility still has a “clean” floor. If they didn’t, I don’t know if I would keep working.
  2. I wish! I am working on my hospital’s “clean” floor. Although you never really know if patients are carriers. I don’t know if I would actually qualify for disability, but if I’m able to help in some way I want to. However, is my asthma were to impede my ability to work I may apply for disability. Are you struggling to breath at work? Are you wheezing?
  3. Hi Tabitha, sorry that you are not feeling well :( I have asthma and also feel scared. I have taken care of covid patients. I spoke with my doctor and she does not want me exposed like this. She wrote me a letter that I handed in to HR. I have gotten a lot of pushback from certain supervisors because of this and also co-workers. It’s making me feel guilty and horrible. We know people with asthma are at a higher risk of complications from covid. That’s the culture of my facility for you. I think you need to take care of yourself and have a discussion with your provider. They may not want you being exposed to covid patients. Just a thought. Good luck and feel better!
  4. Thanks for the motivation!
  5. I wish our hospital had a "weekend program." I know a lot of people would love this. It doesn't seem to be a popular option in my neck of the woods. Thanks for your input!
  6. I wish we self scheduled! At my last facility we did that and it worked out quite well :)
  7. This is how I feel. I came from a facility where no one dictated how my pto was used as long as there was coverage available.
  8. Even a trade counts against your four weekends off. I'm just wondering what the industry "norm" is. Thanks for your input.
  9. Hi Davey Do, Thanks for your input! We have a few working moms that offered to work weekends only (thurs-sun) and our hospital declined. I think this would have helped staff weekends tremendously. Are you on a baylor plan?

Hi all, New to this forum and I wanted to get a general consensus. I worked at a busy city hospital for the last two years and now I work at a smaller, community hospital. My new workplace dictates that we are only allowed to request off up to 4 weekends a year (and we work every other weekend). I think this is a little restrictive. Does your workplace have policies about how and when to use pto?
